Any tips on washing, and especially waxing, during winter months? I'm in a condo so I don't have a garage. I can go to a diy car wash though I'd rather use my own products. But waxing should be done in warmer weather. Any tips on winter waxing/polishing?

This is on my mind right now as well. When I was in Connecticut for Thanksgiving, I saw a car wash place that had heated self-serve bays with warm water, so that you can bring your own soap, sponges, whatever, and have a warm enough environment to wax in. Since I live in an apartment, I'm hoping to find a place like this somewhere in the Boston area. Last winter my car was basically garaged all winter and not driven in the snow, but this winter I'll be commuting with it.

You know how some car washes have the undercarriage sprayer thing? I wish I could find one of those without the accompanying brushes and whatnot above. The absurd amount of road salt in New England is basically my number one concern with keeping this car in good shape through the winter.

That's my big concern as well. I live in New Hampshire and road salt, sand and slush can gunk up the car in a day or less! Those self serve bays with warm water and byo suds sound great! I'll keep my eyes open. Let me know if you find any Boston north!

If I were a homeowner with lots of money to spare, I'd install an undercarriage wash right at the entrance to my garage. Sort of like a bidet for cars...

I'm going to try to survive my first MINI winter with the automated wash at the gas station, it is a pressure wash with an undercarriage wash, and it has a foam wax treatment as well....I do have a heated garage, but it will only heat up to maybe 40 degrees Farenheit in the dead of winter (right now, it's 6 degrees F)....too darned cold for me to spend a couple hours detailing my car....

Maybe Santa will bring me the Zymol gift set I saw at Target...lol
