Rusty Rotors and Hard Spots
Rusty Rotors and Hard Spots
Just got finished giving my R56 the first good wash in a while. I now have a few issues.
First, the rotors are really rusty. What does everyone do to solve this issue? Did you replace your rotors? Is there a special way to clean them so they don't get rusty?
Secondly, there are some spots that would not clean up, and seem like they are hard water spots. I tried washing them multiple times, using the Hydro on them, nothing worked. Any suggestions?
Finally, I was using Clarity on my windshield along with the Prima glass cleaning microfiber cloth, and noticed that when I sprayed and wiped, I could see marks from splatters on the windshield. They would disappear, but every time I would wipe over those spots, they would re-appear again. Any ideas why this would happen?
Thanks for the help.

Not sure on the rotor issues.
As far as the hard water spots you may want to try what I did. I used 100% pure white vinegar and soaked a MF towel in it. I then laid the MF on the surface and let it sit for 30 min or so. After that I removed the towel and most of the spots were gone!
For the spots that remained I ended up using the good ole Porter Cable and some Menzerna polishing products to get everything off. Followed up with some Wolfgang Deep Gloss sealant and I was good to go!

KEN: for the areas that do not make contact with the pad, i would sand it down and paint it with engine enamel paint.

KEN: try some vinegar with water 50/50.

KEN: you got contaminants baked on glass. RainX can usually remove them but if not, try clay... if that doesn't work, some mild polishes with a foam pad should work.
if that doesn't work try Mr.Clean magic eraser.
if that doesn't work super fine steel wool.
if that doesn't work try 200 jumping jacks. by that time you're tire and you wont care anymore.
