Wax on Bonnet Stripes?
Wax on Bonnet Stripes?
Ok, I am a rookie to detailing. My car washing experience consists of running my car through the gas station car wash, nothing more. I want to change that with my new Mini.
I just received my Primo Bundle which includes the Mystic wash, Epic wax, and something called Slick. A couple of rookie questions...
1) When I use the Epic wax, is it ok to wax over the bonnet stripes, or do I need to avoid them?
2) When would I use this Slick product? To wipe off fingerprints or something? I'm not sure of its purpose.
Thanks for the advise!

Yes, you can wax over the stripes. Just go in the same direction as the stripes at the edges so you don't risk pulling them up or forcing wax under them.
I haven't used slick so I'm not sure on that.

Slick is pretty-much like the Zaino Bros Z6 and Z8 detailing spray that I use. You can use it in-between washes or waxes. In-between washes you can use it if you car just gets a bit dirty and you need to spot clean it (e.g. finger prints, dirt on the rear door, etc) or if you just want to enhance the shine. You can also use it to shine and protect after a wash if you don't have time to polish/wax. This may seem like a bit much, but some of us are pretty-**** regarding cleaning. I clean my MINI as much as I can and have been known to use lunch-breaks to spray-detailing my car instead of eating.
There's something about walking away from a detailed, shinny, cared-for car that makes you turn around and give it a few parting-glances and this is what I use my detailing spray for when I don't have time to wash and wax.

Slick has cleaning and shining properties. I use it almost every day to spot clean. Mainly the front to remove bugs and road grime. It is great for finger prints and smudges. I also use it on windows/windshield. It leaves glass spotless, haze free, and gleeming with properties similar to Rain-X. Slick and Hydro are my detailing mainsters. I buy them by the gallon. (we have 2 MINIs)
It's good you are using products that can go on stripes. MINIs have so many types of materials....I don't think it's worth the fuss to have to avoid stripes, plastic trim and the like. I use Klasse products and it, too, can be used on anything w/o causing problems.
One nice thing about Klasse, tho, esp. for new MINIs: it eradicates all leftover Cosmoline the VDC and the dealer failed to remove. Go Klasse!
