Carbon Fiber maintenance

How do you maintain carbon fiber exterior components? I have heard they may fade, will the same solutions work on carbon fiber and the black exterior trim pieces?

most cf are clear coated so you'll treat it like paint.

so you'd wax instead of using those dressings.

Great tips. I have not seen this fading problem myself, my question is preemptive. I am going to have several carbon fiber components on the MINI I ordered, and would like to try to keep the fading away. Since I have not seen this problem, I don't know if it is actually fading or oxidation that occurs on the carbon fiber?

from what ive seen it doesnt fade but fogs due to scuffs in the clear coat, thats why keeping a nice coat of wax on CF is crucial =]

yep, you can polish that clearcoat to rid the swirls and micromarring
just like painted surfaces. should be able to get it back to clear/clean
looking CF, none of that cloudy hazy look.

Good to know. Thanks everyone for the advice, I'll be sure to keep it well protected from the start.
