Carpets?

So I've tried looking for a thread that addresses my problem but I have yet to find one...so I apologize if I missed it out there.

Basically - I'm wondering what kind of damage I could be looking at.

Situation :

My Co-Pilot was holding my soda along with her White Mocha Frap. Her phone rang so she put my drink in the back cup holder. Well about two minutes later I saw the car in front of me hit a piece of wood and it flew into my direct path, So...I swerved out of the way. Bless her heart she didn't spill the mocha...but when I asked her where my soda went time slowed down and I heard a *POP* Gush gush gush...

All of the FULL 42oz Coke spilled onto the back driver side carpet. All we had was a towel so weput it over the spill and soaked some of it up...I left it there when i went to work and tonight when I got in i took it out. Its still pretty moist.

What kind of damage am I looking at? Nothing too serious I hope...

I don't really have the money to go out and buy cleaning products but if its something serious I have my MINI card

Again...sorry if its been posted before. I suck at looking for things. Just ask anyone close to me...or Tyler/Amanda at south bay mini. I got lost twice when trying to pick my MINI up

Can you get your hands on a little hand-held steam cleaner? That's probably the route I'd go...

I think I may be able too...Am I looking at any major problems down the line if I don't take care of it ASAP?

I'm just worried something will go wrong down the line

I've spilled things before and I just wiped it down and didn't give it a second thought but in my MINI...well not taking a course of action is unexceptible!

I would just do it before it gets all sticky...and depending on what kind of soda, it'll probably stain. But mosty I'd be worried about it getting all gummy/sticky as it dries.

i dont remember seeing too much electronics stuff under there, but
with that much liquid i would much prefer to just remove the rear
seats, pull back the carpeting and clean off the floor board.

then wash the carpeting with soapy water and shopvac it.
let it dry for a few hours, put it back together.

then leave the windows open with fans running for a full day to
let it dry completely.
