You just need to let it break down more. It becomes almost clear.

I have a really hard time with it on my PW paint...I can't see it no matter what I do.

Sorry OctaneFellow, c and x being next to each other. And yeah protectant not sealant, but this smell checker does not seem to know the word "protectant" There I added it

The Zaino line does have confusing terms, one of the main reasons I switched to Prima products, plus I like to support NAM vendors.

Just do what I do. Turn off the lights. Don a headlamp or a couple of flashlights, and now you can easily see Swirl or Epic on your paint.

Haha I was just giving you a hard time--and my long post about Zaino was just to highlight how confusing it is for people. I read it several times a day--do I wax first or polish first? Even after I post my reply--there's another newbie asking the same question....which obviously goes so show there is a lot of misinformation out there and we need a better way of getting the RIGHT info into peoples hands....don't worry working on it, lol.

There we go, a headlamp. Now my husband won't think I'm crazy at ALL.

Haha, and you wonder why I have been so quite...

Honestly, i have missed being ridiculed! Haha

I am loving the Epic. 5 days of straigh rain, no cleaning and the paint still shines. I dont know how this stuff doesnt hold dust, dirt, road grim, but its awesome!

yep Epic does a great job on keeping that nice lasting luster for sure.

so does Hydro.

I like Hydro too. Has anyone ever tried mixing it with water, say 3 parts Hydro, 1 part water. Not when used by itself as a protectant, but when applied on something like Epic. I figure it is getting sprayed on a wet surface, would mixing it down hurt.

...thanks folks for all the replies. For now I'm going to leave my baby alone polish and wax wise...at least until she shows more wear. It seems as though (from what I can tell) the less washing I do, the less wear and swirls. Obviously I need to keep her clean but obsessively detailing is most likely not the brightest idea

As far as buying wax in the future still torn over the Griot's vs Primas. Think I'll have to make a few calls before I decide.

My hubby keeps saying "can't wait until this new car phase wears off" and I agree in a way. Some days I don't even enjoy driving since I'm so freaked out by getting a little dirt or something happening to Miss MINI

My last car was a Element and it was used for exactly that...the "elements". I wasn't afraid to drive it harder and a scratch here and there was "character". Can't seem to apply that mentality to the MINI, but maybe someday

Another Newbie checking in!

Hi - I was doing some searching and reading (and obsessing!) and your post was perfect - I have the exact same questions (and fears of ruining the paint!). I've been driving a MiniVAN (aka MOMmobile) since 1999 so the most I've done is go through car washes in recent years.

I was going to order one of the bundles from DP but I ended up deciding that I would skip the waxing for now for fear of messing up.

I bought:

Mystique
Hydro
Slick
Nero
the MF sampler
sheepskin mit

I'm going to get a grit guard. I meant to order some Black Wow too.

Does a new mini need Black wow right away? Does it help protect? Or, should I wait until it needs some restoring?

Is online the only place to buy grit guard? I wonder if I can pick them up locally.

so, my plan is to just wash and hydro.

We're getting ready to donate an old mercedes 190 but I told my husband that I wanted to hang on to it for another month so I have something to practice on! He thinks I'm crazy too.

I'm just so worried about making a mistake!

KC

it probably wouldn't hurt. if you're going to apply onto a dry surface
it might even be better to maybe put 75:25 (hydro:water) to get it to
spread evenly.

but for most apps i think full strength is best... cause we can use its
lubricity since you need to actually drag the towel while drying to
apply Hydro. this is one reason why i dont use Hydro on my hobby cars.

i do not believe in towel dragging while drying. lol watever kenchan..

Always better to treat and protect, then you don't need to restore, just maintain. Plus the plastic will stay cleaner, less water spotting, dust. Plus the bottle will last you years.

Mark is absolutely right. i waited way too long to wax and work on my finish and i had to essentially restore. the PC was scary until i started. i realized that this whole time i was obsessing over nothing. i started really mild and only did a test spot. after that it was off to the races. i really got to know my MINI. even beeter than handwashing kind of knowledge.
