Anyone REGRET getting bonnet stripes?

At first I thought, what's a mini without the stripes. But then I lost interest. Now I"m thinking of getting a thick chrome stripe just down the roof. I love the OB color so much, I don't even want to cover it with stripes. Wanted to know how those stripes wear, though, and it anyone was sorry they got 'em.

Mine were on the car when I bought it, but I really wasn't enthused about them. Took them off and replaced them with another style. They are really easy to remove.

i hear the chrome stripes are a biotch to remove...per OG.

i removed the black stripes off my car recently and i like it better.
very clean and with my aero kit, the car looks more like a sportscar
now.

I regret mine only because I didn't know there were non-OEM alternatives (that I like better) and now I can't remove them because they are under the clear bra.

No regrets on mine. I personally think the bonnet stripes really accentuate the awesome curves of the bonnet.

I have heard not good things about chrome stripes though. I think they do not wear well and are difficult to remove.

I have lots of vinyl, and the only thing I regret is having the dealer do it pre-delivery and not being able to clean/polish the paint under it.

I regretted getting mine. Dispite being from a well known MINI vendor, they were of poor quality and showed the dirt very easily. After getting tired of not being able to get the dirt out, and having WAY too much time on my hands during a hurricane, I ended up taking them off. To their credit, the vendor in question gladly replaced them, but they are still sitting on the shelf in my garage.

The gold stripes on my wifes 05 BRG Cabrio are under the clear bra, and the areas not covered have faded way more than the protected areas. I'm thinking of removing them to the clear bra, then going over the whole thing with a slightly wider bra.

My 03 MC has no stripes, never has and never will. I like it that way, but to each their own I say

No regrets, I love the stripes on my MCS...wouldn't have it any other way.

The only pain is the clear bra that is on top of them...makes the sealing not as tight.

I love my stripes! I have the same problem as Kreative, Putting the clear bra over them was a little tricky. (Thank goodness for the heatgun)

I had oem stripes and took them off. They just made the car look a little too cute, sort of like suspenders, but that's just my preference. On some cars they look great when finished on the back and floor to floor like the MINI Challenge car. Take a look at Aesthetic Creations stuff for aftermarket.

my dealer stripes. the white borders were too much on my dark car.

I took my stripes off after a year. I don't like the way the OE stripes made the car look taller and narrower when I looked at it from the front.

I had a center-checker stripe for a year after that, but my Mini's been naked for a 18 months now and that's how I like it best.

I guess I was ahead of the curve on this one because I ordered Nilla without dealer stripes. I really like the way dark stripes look on PW, but I didn't want to trap them under my clearbra. Finally after several months of looking and being unable to make a decision I was lucky enough to find these from Aesthetic Creations on eBay. I can't wait until warmer weather to put them on.

White Stripes on BRG...

My wife ordered the car with Factory white stripes, because my favorite Classic Mini was BRG w/ white bonnet stripes.Well since the car has been mine a couple of years,I've been dealing with stripes going bad.I park in an industrial area,so lots of weird stuff lands on my car.At home, the neighbors tree drops stuff 3/4 of the year on my car.The white stripes have stains and etching which can't be fixed.I suppose I could wash my car every day,wax it,cover it,etc.I suppose I could replace the stripes.I suppose I could just remove the stripes completely.I suppose I could....

REGRET ??!!!??

Anyone who regrets bonnet stripes on a MINI probably regrets vanilla ice cream on apple pie, the accident that led Reese's to combine peanut butter and chocolate, the discovery of the polio vaccine, and the defeat of Communism.

Some people.

Disclaimer: This post was meant to amuse and entertain. Do not take seriously. But still... no bonnet stripes ? On a MINI ?? Really ???

We bought our sans-stripes. We then got some AC pin stripes. I am so happy with how the stripes pull the whole look of the car together. I am not totally happy with my first application, but the good thing is, with only a few more dollars they can be replaced. I am actually going to go with matching boot stripes and remove the Cooper S badge. Then to white-out the sunroof. I am all for the stripes!!!!

I love the white bonnet stripes on my CR. But while ordering her I did see a really nice OB in the show room and thought it looked MUCH better without stripes. It is a pretty color and just looked better unstriped to me. But the great thing about my stripes and Union Jack roof is that I can change my mind any time I want and just get them taken off.

I think it's an individual thing. I'd give it some time to set in, and see what you think. They're easy to take off and not all that expensive (or difficult) to replace again later if you change your mind again!

Any issues with fading for those that removed the stripes. Mine have been on for almost a year and Im hesitant to remove them only to still have defacto stripes because of fading.

Sometimes there appears to be "ghosting". Usually a good polish will take care of it. In that short of a period of time, I wouldn't expect it to be a problem.
