Hello All,

I just became a Zaino convert because of all your wonderful posts and pics!

Awaiting the Total Kit's arrival sometime in the next day or 2, then waiting for a dry day to start applying this wonderful stuff you all rave about!

Hey Everyone,

Those Z2 and Z5 bottles in the complete kit look quite small, yet the directions seem to indicate that a little goes a long way!!!

Can you advise the number of waxes you have been able to get out of a bottle before having to re-order? It seems that they say to use a "dime-sized" dollop on the applicator pad, how far does that go??

Also, when finished, how do you clean the applicator pads, or is it OK to let them dry with the Z2, or Z5 and use them interchangeably?

Zaino-challenged here!

Scott

Scott,

I have been able to get three coats off an 3/4 ounce applicator bottle with no problem. With regard to the applicator, I've always thrown it in the washer and dryer with no problems. The product is still on there, but the cotton applicator is softened enough for repeated use.

You're spreading it on much thinner than I've been able to obtain. I use the ZFX accellerator with the Z2/Z5. I fill one of the small bottles (comes with the ZFX kit) half full and I can coat the entire car with just a couple drops left. I've been doing it in my garage under artificial lighting so maybe I'm putting too much on because I can't see well enought. What do you think?

Forgive my ignorance, but are there any long term negative effects to using this product. Also, what is the maintenance like?

I have never been a religious waxer, but would really like to maintain my MINI when it arrives next month, as I plan on keeping it as a permanent member of the family.

dominic, you are spreading too much product. but that's to be expected from a new user -- happened to me, too. you'll make the necessary adjustments as you add more coats. when the instructions say 'dime-sized', they really mean it. i think it's because we were so used to spreading gobs of traditional wax prior to Z.

Yeah, but I can't see anything on the car if I use dime size. BTW, how many dime size's should cover one door?

No negative effects with Zaino products. The hardest part of application is in the prep work (dawn wash, claybar, dawn wash, etc.). Once done, Zaino is an on/off product. Holds up to what seems like an eternity since the only thing that removes it is alcohol or claybar. But once you see the effects on your car, you'll want to keep adding layers upon layers. Am I wrong, dominic?

I think Sal needs to pay me a commission.

gotta trust the product, dominic

door = 1 - 2 dimes

instead of putting on one dime sized drop on the applicator, apply small dots of zaino on the appllicator so it will cover more of the surface. that is how i get maximum use with minimal product.

One more question, when would you ever want to remove the product?

Fins,

I've just purchased two bottles of ZAINO 2 for Junior! I can't wait to apply it this weekend. I still have plenty of ZYMOL Carbon wax so I may top off the Z2 with it much like Casey had mentioned using p21s wax over the Z2.

I decided to look into the Zaino website to get more detailed info. and was pleased with the instructions on how to clean, and apply Z2 properly.

Thanks for the push Fins, salamat.

I got my kit from Zaino yesterday, and today I used my bro's Neon as the test-bed. I washed and clay-bar'd the whole car, wiped it down with a glossifier, and then by that time I only had time for one coat of Z-5. You're supposed to layer coats, and end up with Z-2 as the final coat (it's kind of a voo-doo thing, but the directions are all in there), but I said screw it and just did the single Z-5 for tonight. The difference was amazing!. The Neon is Black, so every flaw shows; the Zaino helped to hide some of the swirls (that's what the Z-5 is for), but the sheer GLOSS is basically obscene

my favorite: Wizards Mist-n-Shine

I briefly tried the Z-6 glossifier last night too. I'm impressed thus far, although it doesn't leave the teflon-slick surface the Wizards does.

Pooky, I'm not sure if the Zaino Z-6 is a synthetic wax base glossifier, however in the description is does say that it "actually bonds with [other] Zaino polishes". The Wizards, however, is not a protectant and adds no wax of any sort.

^not to be confused with ultra-lazy Eagle One Wax-as-u-dry

Ryan,

What's your take on Casey's idea of applying p21s wax over the Zaino finish? Since I have plenty of Zymol carbon wax and field glaze detailer, I intend on using these latter products to produce an even deeper-wetter look.

I suppose the Wax won't harm or strip the Zaino underneath, what's your opinion on this.

pooky,

your car looks great! welcome to the Z brotherhood. about layering Zymol over the Z -- i guess it wouldn't hurt. you'll get several opinions on this subject. but as for me (Z user for 5+ years) i tend to stick using Z only. either way you can't go wrong.

fins.......

thanks fins for the props!

I love how Junior shines now and can't wait to apply another coat of Zaino next weekend. The weekend after that, I'll apply Zymol carbon wax...I don't want it or the Zymol field glaze detailer to go to waste.

You've convinced me that Zaino is the best product to use and I'm thankful. Zymol is still second to Zaino in my book none the less.
Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!
