Banana Gas- An invitation to NAMers to test a new product!
#28
It is a wax.
Sealants and waxes, in most cases, are of the same general category (Last Step Product, which protects and enhances, typically). The term sealants often refer to synthetic "wax" while the term wax, without modifiers, can mean either a synthetic wax or a natural carnauba-based wax.
Banana Gas is primarily a synthetic wax, although it contains some carnauba for looks. So in that sense, it is both.
Most importantly, it is a final step- you would not want to top it with anything else.
Regarding the buffing off- it dries instantly to a haze, which makes it wipe-on, wipe-off.
Does that help clarify?
Thanks for all the questions!

I've ordered mine so I'll experiment.

I'll take a stab at this Darkness.
While polymers and/or polymer resins encompass a rather large family, they are generally not compatible with wax, be they man-made or natural waxes.
Given how most polymers chain as they cure, I would suspect the carnuaba ingredient in this product to be pushed to the surface. Hence why you do not top coat it or you remove the carnuaba,
Now, that is all speculation as we really do not know the ingredients, but I think it is possible scenario.

I'm sticking with the old adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
I love my Epic. I'll pass on the banana juice.
But if you other OCDetailers come back with glowing reports, like, "wow, the shine is brighter than the North Star... the protection last longer than Fidel Castro's rule... I love this stuff so much I'm going to sleep with the empty bottle"...
Well... then MAYBE I'll give it a try.

That said, we will look for any feedback to the contrary. In theory and from our own testing, Banana Gas can be applied in just about any situation. However, that doesn't mean that someone might find a different results. Everyone does things just a little differently so we want to figure out how well Banana Gas can withstand numerous variations in application, weather, etc.

Too bad I can't try some of this on my MINI, although I'd have some sent out here to Iraq via APO if you'd like a test on something out here.
Also, I hear the name of this product and think of this:

**Just be sure to describe your situation in your feedback... prep steps (if any), exisiting wax (if any), temperature, paint color, paint condition, etc... anything you can think of that might be helpful as we evaluate all the feedback.

It's ok to do whatever you want really. Sure, we'd definitely like at least a few experiments on plain ole paint with nothing else on it. Yet, we want to see how it does in all sorts of scenarios. So feel free to top it over Epic or whatever you want!

+1. I literally JUST did the full detail a week ago, and I heart Epic muchly. I'm going to hold off and see how it goes.

Well, I just "signed up" so if they haven't already got enough people, I'd like to try it out
I already have my "Strategy". I'll tape a clean, clay bar'ed panel off into 3 (semi) equal sections and apply Banana Gas, Hydro and probably Meguiars Gold Class to each. Then photo the results

Good strategy too! Sounds like a fun comparison. Taping makes it easy to compare.
