Detailing product ideas

How bout a thread to list detailing products we wish existed? Ideas for products that don't seem to be out there? Maybe someone can find a way to make them.

I was just thinking today I wish there were some nice wool sponges. It seems everyone only makes lambswool mitts. Sure, you can leave your hand outside of the mitt but that doesn't have the same ergonomics and water-holding capacity of a sponge. Before I switched to wool mitts for my paint's sake, I was very happy with a chenille sponge that I got from autopia (like most of their products, they dropped it after a few months ) I prefer the high pile of wool...perhaps I should sew a sponge inside a wool mitt.

Then of course there is the spray-on wax with infinite durability and the depth of carnuba....we can dream, right?

A scratched resistant sealeant that no matter how hard you try will not scratch or swirl or waterspot, that has maximum depth and gloss, and last for the life of the car.

I would do anything

I for one would like a waffle weave mit for drying small, hard to reach or very low sections. Nothing that could dry your whole car with, but just a little bit of drying capacity for the door jams or on top of the exhaust pipe - without having to hold up the rest of the towel to keep it off the ground.

As a retailer and manufacturer, I think this is an excellent idea! I'm sure that the other retailers/manufacturers/vendors here on NAM will like it too. We're all always looking for new ideas that will serve and/or excite our customers.

Great idea! I look forward to reading all of your ideas as this thread grows and grows.

I would like a wash mitt that has two different colored sides.
I would use one color for just the top of the car while the other color/side would be used down low where it tends to be a little dirtier.

The two colors would make it easier to keep track.

Good brushes

I would like Detailers Paradadise to sell good brushes. especially a good wheel brush. The Maguiar's wheel brush is good for getting between the spokes, but the head on the general purpose brush is too big to get in all the areas of a wheel.

Re: the DP and Prima specific suggestions, I don't want to turn jwardell's thread into a DP/Prima thread! I think it's best for the forum that this remain generic for all to read and take note of (not just me!).

So, although a big thanks for your ideas directed to me specifically thus far, I'm not going to respond to them individually. What I will do sometime in the future (after Nick and I have read this thread and as it's grown more) is start a separate thread that describes some things we have in the works and also what's next on our "to-do" list (as well as more specifically address some of your great ideas!).

I don't want to take over this thread so I'm going to sit back and just read it as it grows now!

Now keep those ideas coming! I'm not the only eyes watching, I assure you.

How about Prima Facia, specially formulated to clean all the grime that hits the lower front end?

I would like...
  1. a good wheel brush that is soft like the discontinued Meguiar's Versa brush but with a little smaller head
  2. a spray, wax-as-you-dry carnauba
  3. a garden gnome that would come to life every morning just long enough to perfectly detail my MINI while I am getting ready for work

Tape that will actually stick to the plastic trim and also flexible enough to go around the wheel wells without having to tear it up into 3 inch pieces.

Or.

Wax that is as good as Epic that won't stain the plastic trim.

Nobody has a carnauba that's like Hydro where you spray it on while wet & dry. Plus I really really want my #3

I want a wax that I can see easily on my PW. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I have a hard time telling if I've missed a spot.
Surely someone clever enough to make color changing car shampoo could figure this out.

SprayOn wax is just that. except it doesn't last like Hydro.
you can use it wet or dry.

I read the Griots instructions & it says to use it dry like a QD. No mention of spraying it on while the car is wet & towel drying for protection
