Murphy's law
Murphy's law
so I spent 7 hours detailing my car earlier this week only to come home after work today to find " Basil " covered in dirt, leaves, and other crap from a hedge trimming operation at the apartment building across the lane ...what a mess... I am not at all happy...it never fails does it
Ugh ! Hope you exercised care in removing that stuff. Leaves, twigs, and that kind of stuff can leave you with surface scratches... wouldn't be difficult to remove, but STILL, right after you just detailed ?! :impatient
Yeah, I'd have to file a complaint. Not that it would do any good other than lowering the blood pressure a few points.

yeah, so I raced over to the local DIY coin op car wash and used the pressure sprayer to blast all the crap off, dried him off carefully with a microfibre towel and he's happy again. There are a couple of very small scratches from where I suspect the twigs sailed across the bonnet, they're not serious tho'. I'll ScratchX it tomorrow, should be ok. One question, I used Ice the first time, my cc has not arrived yet could be a while. I'll get some Prima stuff when it comes, but in the meantime Canadian Tire near here carries Meguiars and Mothers products, what do you recommend as a wax untl I can get the "good stuff ". From those two lines of products, I'm thinking NXT what do you think?
even though I used the word " blast " to describe the rinsing process I was very careful rinsing the car off. There was no aggressiveness involved...just TLC

looks good diesel! i would continue using Ice until you get your
credit card.
NXT is not that great. it's super easy to use and nice shine but washes
away just as fast.

thanks, I'm glad you like it, he came through the hedge trimming unscathed ...I thought he got scratched but in this mornings early sunlight I cannot see any scratches...my eyes must have been playing tricks on me last night
also thanks for the tip..the Ice looks okay...it's at least a 100 % improvement from when I first bought him....
still having trouble getting some of that real baked on brake dust off the wheels in spots used the claybar got most of it off but there are a couple of spots where its really nasty...anything you recommend... I read on a harley site that wd 40 might work

diesel- you can get some scratch-x by meguiar's locally and use that
to polish the wheels.
then wax afterwards.
if you can wait until your cc comes, try Prima's WheelShield. it's a nice
polish/cleaner/wax.
but always a good idea to have scratchx in your arsenal...

+1 on the wheelshield. I also have some Megs blue clay I got from Octaneguy that is more aggresive than the off the shelf stuff. I'm not and expert but from my thinking the wheels are painted so I wouldn't use anything on them you wouldn't use on your cars other painted surfaces.
Just thought of this. I got some of the P21S total auto wash and it seemed to work really well on brakedust. It's usefully (or so I've read) for engine detailing and bug removal as well.

you run your fingers over the finish.
did the baggy test...feels real smooth..
the sun is shining brightly now, guess I'll have to take more pics...till I get my cc I guess it's as good as it's gonna get for now, but " Basil " and I are quite happy...so no problem

yah, i hate doing the lawn and taking out the trash.... some coyote or
something tore through my trash bags early morning...wat a f-king mess.
my leaf blower is only 115mph so not enough power to really pickup stuff
from the ground and throw it at my car.
sounds good. just keep up with your detailing with Ice and scratch-x,
some spot claying/waxing now and then. you should be fine.
never been **** about a car before, but this one has changed my life as I'm sure it has for a lot of folks...as a bus driver for Vancouvers public transit system (28 years) I cover a lot of ground during the course of my shift and I see lots and lots of cars. A lot of MINIs every day, and I'm always amazed how not only are the MINIs some of the cleanest cars out there but I still haven't seen one with any visible body damage and in Vancouver that is simply outstanding, Vancouver's a real bear of a city to drive in but the MINI love is quite noticeable
so, I'm outside taking pictures of " Basil " and this guy is walking down the street he says "nice car, look at the paint it's just like glass, is it new? " then he bends down and runs his hand over the fender and oh nooo
he's wearing a ring....he scratched it...what's happening to me?
I guess it's that MOCD thing I keep hearing about
