OctaneGuy Help Please

OctaneGuy, bought your DVD. Impressive how to class. My other asked me a couple of hours into it how many times I was going to watch it, told her it was still the first time.

A couple of questions for you, when the Vette was taped off, I assume the tape was supposed to close the gap between the chrome and the body. Or when the edge of the fender and hood were taped off the gap was closed as well as protecting the edge? I would suppose to keep the overlap on the paint to a minimum? Do you need to hand finish where the tape was on the paint or is the over lap so miniminal ( ? of an ") that it isn't needed?

As I am a Detailers Paradise junky so far, how about the mf bonnet to remove the wax? DP doesn't sell one, finding a 6 1/2" buffing pad is challenging? Advice and not looking to start a conflict with Heather either just wanting advice! (Sometimes eazy, like the bonnet, is nice when a Suburban is envolved vs by hand when a MINI is envolved)

Thanks.

A bonnet is not necessary. As long as you have some nice microfiber towels, that is all you need.

A bonnet can sometimes be a replacement for a microfiber towel because by putting the microfiber bonnet over the pad, you can remove wax from the paint. Personally, I find it much easier to just wipe off the wax by hand.

I think OG says that he prefers to use a bonnet on cars that are very scratch sensitive, because using the machine to remove the wax gives you a lesser chance of instilling scratches. Perhaps I am wrong though, I just remember reading OG say that.

I am sure that he will chime in here as well!

Thanks Heather

Although it was in another post, thanks Heather for the info on the pressure difference between DP polishing pads and Miguers pads. I would have screwed that up.
