Exterior Plastic Covers on Windshield Frame?

These black covers look and feel like plastic, I understand they break when you replace the windshield. What do you use to get the factory/dealer swirl marks out of them?

You can do them by hand with a hand applied paint cleaner like ScratchX, but I prefer to use the PC with some polish. You could use Meguiar's M80 or Prima Swirl or maybe finish on them. Yes you CAN polish plastic.

Thanks OC, I would assume with the white or black pad and maybe 3 on the PC?

in my case (since i currently use a griot's system) i used my griot's orange
pad (3" one) and some Polish3.

worked great.

I agree with, and have used, both of the above-mentioned approaches (kenchan & OctaneGuy), and both work equally as well for me.

Try the white pad, I don't think the black pad will do much. Bump up the speed to 4-5 (5 for the Meg's pads for sure). Speed 3 is for applying a wax, and won't do much for polishing the covers.

Yep the Griots orange pad on my Metabo 3" polisher with some PlastiX works great for polishing plastic! I use that combo for removing the hazy look from headlights all the time.

which reminds me, I need to get some PlastiX or plastic polisher to
clean up my CD's. i couldn't believe how scratched they were
from just sitting in my garage. who the hell used my CD's as
menko?

(Menko is a paper disc with pictures of stuff on it and you smash it
to the round and if you can get your disc under your opponent(s)
disc, that disc is yours... a childhood game in japan)

I just got some PlastX to do my speedo and tach lenses...after switching out the faces earlier this week I was amazed at how easily they scratch!
