Mach V Update 4/19/07
Mach V Update 4/19/07
Hi all,
I just wanted to poke my head up and give a little blurb about what's going on at our shop.
In this update:
- Introduction to Mach V
- State of Our Mini
- Why I'm Not Going to the MOTD This Year
- Mini Parts Update
Introduction to Mach V
First off, if you missed our intro postings, my shop is Mach V Motorsports. We're in Sterling, VA, just south of Mini of Sterling. We've been in business for years, and have traditionally sold parts for Subaru and Mitsubishi cars. We just opened the Mini branch of our business, and we have a 2007 Cooper S shop car to play with.
We share our shop with Ultimate Performance. They're a service company, and they do all the labor stuff in the shop. My business is a parts company; we just sell the parts, so no mechanics work directly for me. We do have access to all the facilities, though, and we frequently use the Dynojet dyno.
Our Mini
There aren't a lot of parts available for the car yet, but we're working on it! We did do a dyno test, and built a dump tube to see how much power we could unlock by basically removing the entire exhaust. Details on that test OVER HERE.
We also installed clearbra and window tint, and just today some new wheels. We have more wheels coming in the future...lots more parts planned for the car, too. See my mods plan thread.
No MOTD For Me
When we signed up here on N.A.M. and I learned about the Dragon event, it was just too close to the date for the event, and I have already booked too much other travel this spring and summer. (I just got back from a week vacation last week!) I like to think my small business depends heavily on my presence, so I don't like to be away too much. But count on me being there next year.
Mini Parts Update
I like to stock a lot of parts, because having stuff means you can sell it when the customers want it! But it takes a while to build a full inventory for a car, so for the time being our offerings are kind of thin. I do have a couple more sets of the Rota D2 wheels that are on my car, in stock. We've got brake pads, line sets, and fluid. And there's a huge crate of M7 parts winging their way to us, due in late next week.
Stop on in to see the shop and/or meet me -- call beforehand if you want to see the Mini, because I sometimes drive another car to work.
Oh, and one more thing...a couple of Mini owners had asked about a dyno day. We'll probably be doing one in May sometime. I'll post here for sure when I have a date set for that.
