Danged furriners coming to town!

Hey there, Mid-Atlantic MINI lovers! We'll be Motoring east for a visit in mid-July (don't all run and hide!) and would like to get together with like-minded folks. We'll be arriving No. VA 7/9-ish and heading back 7/18. Gotta spend some time with the 'rents (Lovettsville) and visiting sis (Columbia), and was hoping your club had something going on the weekend of 7/14-15 that we could tag along. Kinda curious to see how Basil handles having real oxygen to breathe! I see your calendar is kinda blank for July, hoping that will change as time goes on? Please?
Anyway, we'll be around, and we wave!

I am sure we will have some runs in July. I will try and remember your dates for upcomming runs that month. Pre-welcome to the area.

Always nice to get a chance to meet fellow NAMmers from out of town. Looking forward to it!

I too am sure as the time gets closer, we will fill that weekend with a cool event. I will keep it on my personal calendar that you are coming into town, so when something comes up, I can let you know about it!
I am glad you are venturing this way, and can't wait to see you all!

Thanks for the positive replies. I'm really looking forward to coming "back home*" and some good MINI lovin' will add to the trip!

*I grew up in Bladensburg ( a really long time ago) and spent a lot of time in Leesburg (my grandparents lived there).

I just meant go easy on the track stuff. That's how I read Edge's post.
Motoring all over the place is what we do, right? Anything y'all want to do is fine by me. (As long as crabcakes are somewhere to be found).

No, I never meant a track event. Unless a track is specifically mentioned, our "driving events" are routes planned on public roads, with a few stops along the way, usually including for food.

Killer crab-cake place up my way. If you want me to look into a dinner group there just tell me, I'll go up there and talk to them. I could a;so probably do a little (30-45min) run for it either before or after.

So, I was talking to my cube-mate at work today (he's a grad student from NC) about the trip, I-40 east to Knoxville, then north to VA, and he says "you know, there is a road south of Knoxville that might be kinda fun in your sporty car", OK, got my attention. Says he" I think it's 129 or something like that". Wait....what! Quick scramble to call up Mapquest....Dang!

We're gonna be a day late getting to VA.

Is it July yet???!!!!

Yes, I know about the Dragon. I just didn't realize we'd be so close!

M7 pulley on order...check
Sway bar on order....check
Plastic seat protectors so when my wife wets herself, it doesn't ruin the leather....check.

No, I'm not excited about this; why do you ask?

Is it July yet?

Close being a relative term, since I'm 2000 MILES AWAY!

Really? 8 hours from Knoxville to the Dragon? Only looks like 6 inches or so on Mapquest.
Driving 12 hrs/day should put us in Knoxville ~4PM on day 2 (5 hrs daylight left), drive south on 129 until it's quitting time, spend the night, drive the Dragon down (stopping for souveniers) and back, head for VA.

Oh yeah. This is do-able!
