Capital Raceway on Sun. March 11

Hey everyone. I just want to let you know that MaxiCooper and myself will be at Capital Raceway on Sunday March 11th. I am not sure how many people want to take their MINI's on the 1/4 mile but I figured I would ask to see if anyone wants to meet us up there. We are meeting at McDonalds at 1030am, and then we will be hanging out at the track and doing a few runs ourselves (as long as the weather permits us). So if anyone wants to join us come on up. Hope to see you there.

I'll throw my name out there and say I will come tentatively. I've been to Capitol many times but haven't taken the Lexus down the 1/4 mile yet and I am curious.

My modified MCSa used to do a solid 15 second run so i'm curious what others can do.

But seriously the only issue I have @ capitol is their timing. They will say they open @ 11 and they don't. They'll open the gates and 11:30 and start runs @ 12:30 or so.

Just out of curiousity, what mods did you have done? And how did you drive it on the track; normal drive, sport drive, or actually shifting? I am wondering if I will be able to hit the 15 flat mark with what I have done and which way will give me a faster time.

ALTA 15% pulley, ALTA CAI w/ hose, plugs wires; LDG Header w/ high flo-CAT; ALTA Intercooler diverter; M7 ram air scoop, Sticky BF Goodrick KDW2 tires.

I would clean the car out of everything that wasn't bolted down except the driver's floor mat. DSC OFF (a MUST!) Then put the car in SD, shift to 1st. Go to the area to warm the tires and give the car hell. It would spin the tires well and the car would jump to one side and usually shift to 2nd.

Then when I got to the line I'd give the car 75% throttle when I hit it. If I gave it 100% I'd spin tires. And once moves i'd have my foot to the floor till I crossed the 1/4 mile. My best times were 15.008 @ 93mph.

You have very similar mods to what I had. And a heavy MCSa like mine, I had all 4 packages and the sunroof so I tried to get an idea of what it would do as it stood. I didn't remove any seats or items that I wouldn't normally drive the car with.

Awesome, thanks for the advice. Yeah similar mods but not quite enough Well, I guess I will see what happens. I think for the first time I am going to run it with the seats and everything installed just to get an idea and then the next time I take it I will remove everything to see what kind of difference it actaully gives me.

Hopefully, the weather will hold out this weekend.

My Mini is not that fast so my goal this weekend is trying to break 15 sec. with my 18"

Anyone wanna have fun, come and join us. It's not a race, it's test & tune day. Basically, we will make some runs to check and compare our time slips, have some burgers, sodas and chill out.

If you don't want to run, you can always watch from the sideline. Kindly of fun as well.

I remember one of the many times we went to the track and MDSBrain ran a 15.3 once with back seats out and with a passenger in the car that weighed 165ish pounds. Then later in the year he ran the 15.00 that he spoke of earlier.

Not to sacre you all (first timers) but the last time I was there with the MINI I had a small issue. A hunk of crap was kicked up by a car warming it's tires. the crap made the hole you see below:

I think those are impressive time slips for mildly mod MCSa.

I'm 50/50 now with the threat of rain for sunday. If there is even a few drops the track closes easily.

yes, I know they are calling for rain, but last time I looked the weather channel said a.m. showers so hopefully they will be gone by the time the track opens. Either way I will be at McDonalds at 1030...rain or shine, I am meeting someone there so I can give him my stock exhaust. So, if it is raining, maybe we can all hang out for a little bit and hope it stops Maybe even take a little cruise if the track doesn't open. I am not afraid to motor in the rain

I am not hoping for rain but they are saying a.m. showers. I was just letting people know that I want to do something on Sunday if they close the track. I want to run the MINI and see if I can hit 15 flat and watch you run yours, BUT if they do close the track due to rain... I would still like to hang out and b.s. about MINI's and maybe take a little cruise.

Seems like the weather will hold out pretty good tomorrow.
The McDonald's is the one right in front of the main entrance.
