I am looking to get the windows on my MINI tinted. Does anyone know of a good place in the DC (preferrably near Arlington) area? If you have had any good experiences please let me know. Also, about how much did you pay? I'm looking to at least do the rear and rear-side windows and the sunroof. Thanks in advance!

 

Many of the DCMM members go to Carlos in Laurel, MD. Excellent price, good work, no complaints. DCMM has several "tint" days. Check out Solar solutions in Laurel. Cost? Hmm. Cheap.

Do you do the Clearshield or Clear Bra also?

 

Unless they change, and Carlos can say so, they did not several months ago.

The premier place in the area for clearbra is Proform in Ellicott City. Not necessarily cheap but the best around. Lifetime warranty and the owner used to teach the local dealerships ... more than just BMW how to install.

Just got my '07 MCS a couple of days ago and want to get it tinted. So far, from searching this forum, it seems like the options are:

- Solar Solutions
- HP Racing
- LA Tint
- Winners

Has anyone used LA Tint in Alexandria?
What type of tinting film is the best? Carbon, metallic, ceramic?
What type of film does Carlos from Solar Solutions use?

 

Metallic lasts the longest. Carbon is known to have the least interference with electronics. Although i've never noticed it.

Carlos uses Metallic unless you specify you want Carbon. I'm sure he'd even get a ceramic or anything you want.

 

Can anyone post pics who got their tint installed by Carlos and tell us what percentage they chose? Are there different brand names and colors? does everyone get the same stuff just in different percentages?

I used LA Tint in Alexandria back before the sorta DCMM introduction to Carlos of Solar Solutions. It was the one just south of the intersection with Rt 235. Did a good job and once he looked a the car gave me a price break 'cause it was so small'.

I'd recomend Carlos first though as you know who's going to do the work. The LA place I had it done was almost two years ago and I don't know the guys name. Had Carlos do my van and was very happy with his work too.

Oh, I had 50% done all around on the MINI. IN VA you're allowed to put darker 35% on the back side and rear but I didn't want a 'two tone' tint job.

 

I also recomend Carlos but why not kill two birds with one stone by getting ur windows tinted at the Dragon since Carlos is on the vendor's list for the Dragon.

 

I've seen him work. Very organized, quick, and professional! I am sure he will be doing A LOT of business at the Dragon. And may have some good deals there too.
