Nope, it's at Collision Craft. They did the tear-down so at least that parts done. Parts have been ordered. Based on talking to the shop it seems like it needs to be scheduled for the work to get done and because it's nearing the end of this week it's not likely that it'll start this week. I understand that it takes time and all that, as I was talking to someone at work here a few moments ago, I'm selfish, I just want out of this Grand Prix and back into my own car.

That's right... I should have remembered you wanted Collision Craft to do your work and they're not on our list of "Select Service" shops.

Anyway, yes, it does take time to do repairs but that seems a little excessive to me. And no, I wouldn't consider it "selfish" to want your car back sooner... it's simply expecting efficient service.

Hope the rest of the process goes well for you !

Since you have the license plate maybe is worth a call to the police and you can take the driver to small court to recoup damages.
This is true --- worth a $60 buck ticket. Might as well report the ***.

Samething why red light cameras are not moving violations.

I can't believe this isn't a comprehensive claim.
I don't know about Maryland (just moved here a year ago) but in NJ, the police don't have to witness it. A ticket is just a complaint. A judge decides if you get convicted or not.

Wont do a bit of good. Cops have to see the violation happen in MD. You can "report" anything you want but it dont mean squat. This is heavily prevalent with speeders in residential areas where lots of accidents occur. Cops have to catch the speeders no matter how much the local residents complain.

I'll be heading up there soon to have them finish what they missed/broke while my car was there in January...I'll be sure to give your MINI a nice high-five so it still feels loved.

Same basic rules apply in Virginia. An officer can not ticket someone for something the officer did not personally see occur. It is possible for a citizen to go to a magistrate in Virginia and ask that a summons (or warrant) be issued for an offense. The only problem is the citizen has to be able to swear that they know who the other driver was by name, convince the magistrate that the elements of the offense have occurred, and then produce the name and and address of the other driver so the summons/warrant can be issued and served. Obviously this is a catch 22 which almost always precludes this approach from working (unless the other driver is a neighbor or something). Oh, this approach also requires the citizen to come to court to testify about the offense or the other driver will have the charge dismissed by the judge.

The reason I brought that up to clarify it was because there were several recent stories in the Baltimore area where some residential streets were deadly. People speeding, residents complaining, nothing getting done until they reported it to the local media. TV put it on the air, makes the police look bad, sure enough you get some cops patrolling the street.

It doesn't always take media coverage to get results. Not sure about elsewhere, but in the county where I live there is a phone number where folks can call directly to the police unit responsible for traffic/vehicle issues. They're pretty responsive here. Let them know about an issue in a community and fairly quickly afterwards there's an appropriate increase in police presense to try to deal with the problem. I'd think (hope) that most police departments in the DC area would have a similar method for accepting and responding to citizen concerns. Police departments are like any other part of government. They have limits to resources and competing priorities amongst the folks they serve. Sometimes the squeaky wheels really do get all the attention
