iPod and MINI

My iPod (NANO) and Streghina are in non-speaking terms.

Just before Xmas I had the terrible idea to update my iTunes which in return wiped out all my iPod songs

I loaded a few right away but just two weeks ago I finally reloaded
MINI1 MINI2 MINI3 MINI4 playlists... but when I tried to use my iPod in Streghina it says "NO MAGAZINE" and the stupid iPod is on, with the word MINI on it .. but no songs, nothing ..

The iPod works well this all PCs I have tried it on.

This AM I went back to TATE and I got a new iPod module installed but the results are the same NO MAGAZINE meanwhile my iPod plays well on my laptop but not in the car.

Can someone tell me what's the bloody problem b/w my MINI and my iPod??

Umm, try doing a 'restore' on the iPod through iTunes.

If you're going to Tate this weekend, bring it along and I (and I'm sure others) can take a look!

Cannot drive two MINIs at once it's either GyPsy and the strut brace or Streghina and the iPod

Well, FINE, be difficult!! ( )

As mentioned above, try doing a factory restore on the iPod from iTunes and see if that makes a difference.

When you do a restore, a warning does come up telling you that you will lose all your songs, etc.

When you plug your Pod into the Mini, is the stereo off? It should be off when you plug it in, then turn on the stereo.

And you say you've titled all your playlists MINI1, MINI2, etc. Do you have a sub-title? For example, mine say MINI1 - Favorites, MINI2 - Highway Boogie, etc. That space between the MINI1 and the hyphen is important.

I'm running iTunes 7.0.2

People... please discontinue this discussion on NAM. Sharing copyrighted music with your friends is not a legal activity, and NAM has strict rules against discussion of illegal activities.

Talking about what music you like is one thing... but talking about sharing it, or how to do so, or where you can get it from illicitly... is another.

No, the "legal" NAM Site Guideline (#5) is not limited just to driving activities... it also says "violations of other laws".

People can and have been prosecuted and/or sued in the USA for illegal file sharing, and NAM wants no part of that headache... not to mention concern for the members themselves if they get caught up in that mess.

Thanks.

Imnuts55 is the trouble maker here

Edge, I understand and appreaciate your concerns - feel free to delete- but I don't think I am much of a sharing type as I cannot figure out how to share a bloody iPod b/w my laptop and my MINI.

... FYI all my songs are legal. My iTunes bills can confirm.

All,

I've held off from updating iTunes for several months now since reading of people having problems with it wiping out their library. This just confirms it!! I don't know what's going on, but I wish Apple would release a "working" fix! As for the ipod adaptor, sorry, I don't use one and can't offer much advice there. Good luck!

Marina,

Are you using a Mac or PC?

There are a number of people having problems with ITunes v7+ who have had success by rolling back to v6.x. Older versions CAN be downloaded from Apple.com and this may solve the problem.

PM me if you need some links to the downloads.

iPod updates

I restored as suggested by Paul! and created MINI1 MINI 2 (w/ space) and MINI3. Loaded a few PetShop Boys songs played OK at the computer at work then @ 8:30 pm left to come home. Followed directions as suggested by Gromit and radio off plugged the iPod turned the radio on and perfect the iPod worked I read MINI cool I am smiling then switched to MINI 2 nothing, then MINI3 and all is good 'til I checked and decided to skip to the next song using the command from the steering wheels , nothing happens ..same song playing I use the command from the radio .. nothing again the iPod has a mind of its own and ignores me.

I shut the radio off and turned back on to read "NO MAGAZINE" . I unplug and plug again the iPod, still same message "NO MAGAZINE"
on the way home I use all the bad words I know in Italian, English and Spanish plus some of my own making.

I am now here looking at my iPod screen " MINI ok to disconnect .." I yelled " you are not connected to anything" and I cannot shut this stupid thing off. It doesn't play doesn't shut off, I cannot shuffle thru the menu.. I have no menu but I do have the word MINI ...

OK I am done for tonight. I will deal with this piece of sh...... tomorrow.

This morning the dead iPod came back alive once I put in Streghina .. played no problem.. one song .. tried another playlist .. perfect .. went back to another playlist ... "NO MAGAZINE" so at the moment the iPod plays only one list but I cannot skip between songs

I am so upset... I left Streghina home I am coming to TATE with GyPsy.

Marina, maybe it's time to ditch the crappy OEM iPod adapter and get a DICE instead.

Bonus: You can get the model that adds HD Radio too. I think it's just $50 more, and HD Radio is free, once you have the equipment.

I only meant sharing the titles of the songs on the play list, not actually sharing the music. Sorry for the confusion. Maybe someone has a guilty conscience

lastrega - not sure if the issue I experienced is identical to yours, but a couple of weeks into using my Nano with the adapter, which had previously worked fine, it would not connect displaying the dreaded "no magazine". What seemed to have worked for me (have been using my iPod without any problems now for over a year) was to plug in my iPod while it was ON and playing a song off one of the MINI playlists. Like the directions say, make sure the radio is OFF before you plug it in. I'm not sure why this solved the problem, but it's worked for me! Good luck with it!

The iPod and Streghina made up

yesterday I tried the iPod after Paul! rebooted it . I followed chex4me suggestions.. and voila' things are back to normal well almost - I need to reload my playlists, hopefully for the last time but I don't have the time so I will be playing my current 8 songs at nausea

I wish I knew about DICE be4 I went to TATE but I always go OEM first... but thank you tom I checked out your site and I have it now on my MINI Favorites search.

Thank you all... and don't break the law, OK?

Odd. I always update my iPod when iTunes suggests to. We have the OEM iPod adaptor and we have had zero problems over 15 months and who knows how many updates.
