Is that Football or is that real Football ?

Why do we call it football when we throw and carry the ball by hand ? Another case of driving on the parkway and parking in the driveway :impatient

Seriously, I do enjoy a good fixture, if you're a footballer and missed the Chelsea vs Tottenham match earlier this season you missed one fantastic game. Tottenham beat Chelsea for their first ever premiership win against Chelsea and the first time in 16 years

A friend's english wife is fan of the Hotspur, so I root for them but I'm a Newcastle fan at heart, though I don't know why, no relations there, but they are doing terrible this year just like our home team.

Cheers,

Mike

Why do we call it basketball, when there are no baskets?

I see where you're going, but I'm not sure it's the best analogy. In basketball, there ARE baskets (hoop + netting), and the ball does come in contact with the basket every time that points are scored.

In US football, the only time that the football comes in contact with a foot is when the kicker either kicks off, punts or makes a field goal attempt. It is (and always has been) ironic that so little contact is made between foot and ball.

Contrast that with European football (soccer), and the only player who can touch the ball with their hands is the goalie. So you have only one player (throw-in from the sidelines notwithstanding) who "breaks" the namesake as opposed to only one player that follows it!

Look for Iron Bridge Wine Company off 108 near Centennial Park.. I use to stop there after work to get away from the traffic..
I did check that out last week. Awesome...I love the place.
