YIKES, Sally !! Sorry to read of your mishap.

Sounds like you're dealing with it well and they'll have Lenore looking like new again in no time, I'm sure.

Take care !

Thanks everyone.

I had to take her to a body shop that Towson recommended. I think she is in good hands. They only work on BMWs and MINIs, and they only use OEM parts and they even asked if she had a name! "Lenore" is written on their progress folder at the shop.

They did say I was the most fanatical of all the MINI owners they have met. I told them I was a MINIac, and the woman said she is going to have to use that term from now on. I of course had my MINI jacket, purse, and gloves..and when I pulled out my MINI credit card, they just laughed. Helped to lighten the mood to say the least.

Glad you're happy with MoT's choice, Sally. Was it Mark's Body Shop ? I have an appt there on Monday to repair the bumper from my rear end collision two weeks ago. Anyway...not to hijack your thread....

Keep us updated on Lenore's progress as she gets all well again !!

Last I heard the MoT recommended body shop was Collision Craft CarStar. That's where I got my bumper taken care of 2 years ago. It made me a little sad to go there as there were some pretty messed up cars sitting in front of the shop. The guy who was in charge at the time was a really nice guy named Jeff Shaw.

Hopefully everything gets taken care of swiftly, because friends don't let friends drive tauruses (tauri?).

I wouldn't have an issue.

I know the perils of traffic circles. I pass through 3 (each way) on my daily commute. The directions I go through them are also 2 lanes wide. I've lost count of the number of times I've had someone either cut in from the right into the left lane or drift out from the left into the right. So many fast braking situations.

I miss the roundabout etiquette of the UK. There's so many of them over there, and it's a big part of their driving test going through one, that problems don't often happen. Hell, they can even get through this w/o too much trouble. Can you imagine people trying to navigate this in the US?

Aww! I'll let you ride my MINI! (Wait, that doesn't sound right... ) Seriously though, as said above, poo happens. It's dumb luck that I haven't caused or been involved in a massive pileup in the DC area yet! (Knock on wood!) Hell, just ask my brother, family, supervisors, passengers, etc., about my driving...

Edit: Hey, check out the official link to the above roundabout: Link
There's some cool pics of some cars we might recognize!

ssallykat: sounds like all will be taken care of with lenore. It's amazing how much damage can be done that doesn't intially meet the eye. The remarkable thing I've seen as a new MINIac is how supportive our community is - never seen anything like this with my previous automobiles.

Hopefully none of it was any frame damage. For eyeballing the pictures it looked mostly like damage to suspension components. Just remember, better the car than you. You don't want to be involved in what I saw on Saturday.

I've got to say, Im surprised at how many people have expressed relief and concern that I was ok, and not just the MINI.
I wish I cared about me as much as some of you seem to.

Thank you.

Sally, we are all so very glad you are okay. But you have to remember what makes this MINI culture/ thing so great is that it's not the cars that are special it's the people who own them and make them special, unique and a reflection of our own personalities. They are after all just metal and parts put together to create a machine. The machine can be repaired even replaced. You can't. You're what is special and unique not the car but we all hope that Lenore will be brought back to a better than new state and become again that reflection of someon we have all come to love and appreciate.

So I guess my MINI should be Matte Black, dark tint all the way around, igniters on the extremely loud exhaust, and maching guns on the front instead of fogs. It should also shock people when they touch it and have an alarm that growls instead of beeps and have dark red Xenon's.
