Recommend Motoring Roads in NoVA

Last weekend I decided to go visit my old stomping grounds in Oakton, VA in Fairfax Co. There are a bunch of hilly, windy roads that were fun to drive on when I lived there 10 years ago. Well with my MINI they are an absolute blast! So if you happen to be in the area go for a drive, the roads I'm specifically talking about are Vale Rd., Foxmill Rd., Stuartsmill, and Waples Mill, etc... this area has a growing population like most of NoVA so a night drive would give you less traffic to deal with, just watch out for deer. Either way its highly recommended!!!

Oh, and if anyone has any other roads in the DC area that they enjoy let me know...

Beulah and Browns Chapel Road are also a blast. At one point, if going fast enough over the hill, you get butterflies. I take these from Reston to Tysons Corner a lot of times. I would definitely be up for a night drive although we will have to watch out for the occasional deer.

Familiar with all those roads. Also go through Clifton and go up Chapel Road, and take a trip towards Fountainhead Park. Come back through Popes Head Road. Really tight turns and blind spots, much more than Vale Road.

ElongCooper hit the nail on the head with Chapel Road out in Clifton. If I drive into work, that is the route I take home. Very hilly and farmish; couple of the hills make your stomach drop!! It's awesome!! Popes Head road on the way back is cool too. It's better though going towards Clifton from the pkwy or 123 though. The end gives you a two bunny hop hill ride that also makes your stomach drop (mini just grabs the road); then there is one tight Mini on the Dragon type turn at the end (10mph speed limit... yeah, right).

That area isn't far from my place, I've been over quite a few times. Chapel is definitely nice! I've been thinking of incorporating it in a run sometime.

as a matter of fact, other than the vineyard, we haven't had a NOVA run in a while. Seems like all the runs are in MD.
