No, height not given on their website, but I'll ask.

That's not bad... it's subtle, and I've been meaning to get a lower profile antenna anyway. The price is good, too. Count me in for one, if you decide to do it.

We'd be interested as well, if we have enough interest.

Thanks!

I've tried a shorty antenna, and reception was worse than stock... That's my only 'sticking' point.

I don't know, IMO how can you read anything on it. Isn't a stubby antenna like 4 in long? Also, it doesn't have any color. I like the flag idea better. If we do our club, it just reads DCMM vertically.

Hmmm, I've been wondering about that. They claim it works just as well, but then they would, wouldn't they? I know some of them look quite a bit different than these.....wonder if there are also differences in performance.....maybe other folks who've tried them (particularly the type that look like these ones) can chime in with opinions as well?

I emailed them a couple questions - here is the response:

"Hi Steve,
They are 4 inches long and are a direct replacement for the stock antenna.
To see an independent review in Podcast format go to:

Thanx,
Loren"

I'm afraid I still have only dialup (how embarassing) ..... so I'm still waiting for that link to finish loading.

I was thumbing through the Craven website and forgive me if I am wrong but do the Craven shortshifter, Crank pulley look very similar to the webb stuff?

webb

craven

webb

craven

Not that I really care. but I just noticed. And yes I know manufacturers share products for sale in the market.

I was talking with Tristan and (I don't remember the other guys name) from Craven down at The Dragon. They do all their own CNC stuff so they might actually be making the stuff that Webb sells.

As for the lack of color in the antenni, they are just anodized aluminum so it wouldn't be too hard to change the color. Like I said, when I was talking to them they seemed to be very eager to change and flow with the market.

Sorry, I didn't intend this to be an alternative to the flag idea. If I like what I see I might pick up a flag so I can "show my colors" at events, etc, but I definitely wouldn't keep it mounted all the time. I prefer something much more subtle for every day.

Thats because there is only 1 or two companies that make all this stuff. Don't believe all of the marketing crap from WMS, Alta, and M7 to name a few....because its just that, a lot of fluff and marketing BS. I was shown the light and trust me I am not going back!

How much was the light, who makes it and where can I get one?

Wife works at Honda, got an S2000 antenna, it sucked. Reception went from iffy to crap. And I didn't like the look either.

We have several manufacturers, and have our own touches (which are not marketing crap!) that differentiate our products.

I am actually a bit offended at the marketing crap allegation, since we did the development on quite a bit of the prodcust floating around the community.

I'd like to see the light you speak of...

Randy

Good for you Randy!!! Now I'd like to see Peter come in here and stick up for himself and all the other small time vendors that actually take the time to develop cool new products for our cars and talk with us on these forums etc unlike big companies like Borla, B&M, Magnaflow etc that just "throw" stuff out on the market to see if we'll bite. A great example is Randy Webb's new exhuast he devolped. A company like Borla or Magnaflow would never even bother trying to come up with such a unique product as that.....keep your opinions to yourself if you are going to insult our vendors here in the Mini community!!!!
