We won't be there. The June 17th date conflicts with the New England "Minis On Top" in NH, complete with a hillclimb up Mt Washington.

Since I see that there are more people from the club that want to be a part of this event, and 2 of the people in my RSVP are not memebers, i am donating two slots back in for grabs.
I would rather be hangin out with club members at a club event.

Are we also planning on a pre-event event? Last year, we gathered at Wegman's (near MoS), had lunched, and the did a mini-convoy ;-) over to the race track.

Anyone up for catching an early bite to eat before going to the track? Maybe Sweet Water Tavern (at Rt 7, near Cascades Parkway), meet around 4pm? It's just 2 minutes from the go-kart place.

Any other suggestions? We could go further away (Reston, Herndon, etc) so as to make a spectacle when we convoy through the town.

Or, if we went to SWT, we could warm up our racing skills on the clover leaf ramps for Cascades Parkway! Zoom-zoom (oops, wrong car make).

I am up for a SWT eat before or if we like we could attact the Wegmans buffet, that is right by MoS.

I was planning to meet at MoS and caravan over to the kart place, but I happy to start the caravan at SWT or Wegmans if we all would prefer... I am easy

**** start of dummy spit ****

Ok smartypants... you got me there... I speak 3 languages... English, Australia and American .... some times I get confused and start talking Aussie... I guess "I am easy" doesn't translate the same in American... let me try a different phrase:

I am happy to go along with what ever the group thinks is best. ....

there !!!! but "I am Easy" is less key strokes... and seeing that I am a 2 finger and 2 thumb typer I try to keep things simple....

**** end of Dummy spit *****

Dave - just kidding with you! I really only speak American English (and a bit of crappy German) and I say the same phrase - just trying to make a joke is all.

I'm an ET1(SW) USN and work for WHSSS/NSC/EOP/WHCA/DISA and of course, the Navy. I'm not a TAR, my PPD is up to date, and I just completed my PFQ and PFT. I'm going for ETC, and luckily it doesn't require PARs anymore, but all of my former PQS is well documented in my ESR.

I'm an Electrionics Technician 1st class (Surface Warefare qualified) United States Navy and work for [DISA = Defense Information Systems Agency] and of course, the Navy. I'm not a Temporary Active Reservist, my Purified Protein Derivative (shot they inject under the skin to check for TB) is up to date, and I just completed my Physical Fitness Questionairre and Physical Fitness Test. I'm going for Electronics Technician Chief (promotion), and luckily it doesn't require "Personnel Advancement Requirements" (old promotion prerequisite system) anymore, but all of my former Personnel Qualification Standards (things i know how to do) are well documented in my Enlisted Service Record.

Daveoc - please cancel my seat in the go-kart - unless you of course teach Coopy how to drive one of those while I'm gone. Thanks!

I believe the official meeting as posted in post #1 is MoS. Or you just show up @ the go-kart place.

Perhaps we was asking whether some of us are planning to get together earlier, as has been discussed previously in this thread.

I don't believe it's been unofficially decided, so it may be time to put it to a vote and see what kind of interest there is to have a pre-race gathering at 4:00p. Choices are:

1. Sweet Water Tavern, Sterling, Rt 7 & Cascades Parkway (roughly), with outdoor patio overlooking pond

2. Wegmans Cafe, Sterling, Rt 28 & Waxpool Rd (near MoS), outdoor seating overlooking parking lot

3. Tortilla Factory, Herndon, Elden Street, inside seating (I don't know if they have outdoor seating)

Bill, is this where you act as the biased observer and declare the finally tallies and call the restaurant to warn, I mean, inform them that we will be coming?

john

I personally like the idea of Wegmans better. There is just more of a selection of food and you don't really have that pressure from a waitstaff/whatever if you don't want food. Not to mention the parking lot is HUUUUUUGE.
