Seeing as LDG is just around the corner from my parents house, and I have to go up there and drop stuff off for them to watch the pups while we are at the dragon....I thinks I may stop by and check it out meself!

A basic summary with some pics wouldn't be too much to ask for. If he's looking for proof of concept, he should've been following my project for the past few months. I've posted more detailed information on my setup than all other turbo or twincharged MINI projects combined. Just look on Michiganmini.org

--->Urban_Assault_JCW: You're correct, that is my setup.

John @ LDG is a friend & near-neighbor. I use his services for all the tweaks on my MCS. My car was the "test bed" for the first pulley he ever installed.

John's turbo project is using his straight MINI as a "mule" for testing. He is using the forged rods and crank from a MCS. The mod is intended to be used on an MCS (with s/c removed), but he needed an engine to test the concept and figure out how all the plumbing would fit. He couldn't find an MCS engine from a corpse anywhere, so he used the engine he had. Another critical to the prototype is to do the "bespoke tuning" of the firmware tweak (look at LDG on the NAM nendors list to understand "bespoke").

I've been out of town the past week, but when I saw him last a week ago, it was his intent to trailer the mule to the Dragon to show it off. He was just about ready to fire it up. His announcement that it works and the reports fro Matt (CmdrVimes) and Will (Wagnbat) tell me that the initial birthing was successful . I sure hope he will be able to make it to the Dragon to show off his new toy!

Tom

lucky dog pictures would substantiate your claims a little better than an engine on a stand and a stripped out shell. Ryephile has his complete overhaul posted and he has dyno numbers. I have seen Ryephile new Turbo-Charged MCS in person. We need pictures. Talk is cheap.

So is saying talk is cheap. I'd like for you to also notice this info is all in the Washington DC forum, because anyone in DC (or willing to drive here) who wants to see it first hand, can. As I mentioned before, he is not selling, nor marketing his accomplishment... He is sharing with the community, and that is all. And to those ungratefuls have no reason to be ungrateful, should refrain from your lame internet flaming... John Behe does not owe anyone anything for volunteering as much or as little information about his personal project as he sees fit.

Feel free to participate in the community and be productive and helpful, but please refrain from trolling other clubs' forums.

So, what you are saying is if he isn't offering proof, you aren't putting down your money.

That seems fair enough, considering he is not selling anything.

Thank you for protecting all of us from making a terrible mistake and sending him unsolicited checks. When I return on Tuesday, I will check under the hood before I leave to make sure no turbo got stuck in there.

And for the naysayers and internet flamers, I do believe he's bringing his beast mule to MOTD06.

I believe he'll give more details in time. Right now he's still in the early stages of tuning. It wouldn't exactly be the brightest idea to put out a bunch of information and such only for it to turn out that it wasn't quite what he thought it would be. So right now all he's put out is the teaser.

Right! And isn't teasing what every vendor does before posting true #s

I don't get it - when did this become a competition? John runs a business - and if he's like the rest of us - has way to much to do in preparation for the dragon to post a detailed analysis of his project - and besides he is still collecting data. We (DCMM) have been watching his progress and we have listened intently at his garage, as a group, to his detailed explanation of his research and plans. We as a group celebrate in his success. Again please note that his posts were in the DCMM forum - his posts were to inform us - not challenge Michigan

It's not a competition (to me). It's cool... the problem was that those of use who are not DC area had no idea what was being talked about and were / are curious... that's all.

OK, I've researched you back to the first of the year in NAM. You are working on four cars. One is a twincharged MINI which you once said was broken longer than it worked. You broke motor mounts, trashed a few clutches, and I am not sure what else. Heck, it appears you even found a way to break a Macintosh and had to use Windows for a while.

You have three other project cars. None are MINIs.

I continue to have no clue of what your beef is here. I sincerely doubt that LDG twincharged your MINI, so that can't be the problem.

Yup

You tell em Wagnbat. Exactly right.

And to the naysayers / amature flame thrower operators... Well I stuffed a 5.8 Litre V-8 MINI in my new traveler, see sig. I ain't selling it. I ain't promoting it. And hence I'm not going to tell anyone how I did it cause there's too many folks with flamethrowers and not much else to do but use them.

Oh sure, it handles like crap, but can you carry a 46" 20 HP riding mower in the back of your MINI? Hmm? I didn't think so. If you're nice I MIGHT open the hood at MOTD and let you see it. No, I have NOT dyno'd it as I am making no HP claims. I fully expect a few to jump in and tell me to prove there are 8 cyclinders. At the Dragon I'll give you a flash light and you go count wires.

Oh, and if my Travelers rockin' don't bother knockin'...

chill out dude....no one has any beef. We are all just confused about it since we cant see the car from where we are.

I didnt even know if it was single turbo or Twincharged without asking. Is it really that bad to ask for more info?

Congratulations John, et al. You're doing something I hope to do myself - I have an MC - beef up the bottom end (ETC), replace the tranny, and crank up the power. I didn't know you were working on this but I'm now on the edge of my seat.

Perfectly fine to ask for more info. Making accusations was less OK.

I guess I am just surprised how many people read the DC club board.

The thread shows up when you click "New posts" on the left side of the site... I'm not sure if club threads showing when you do that is new or not.

Hmm, good point. I never paid a lot of attention to New Posts, but it does explain why this topic has gone national.
