aaaaarrrrrggghhhhh

So, I was driving into work this morning maybe 10 miles from my house. I was puttering along at a measly 45mph heading towards work. Then my engine decides to do something odd. It's like there was a sudden release of pressure and my revs dropped to 2000. Did I mention I was going 45 in 4th gear? Anyway, SES light comes on, I pull over in a little shopping center and wait 2.5 hours for a tow truck to show up. My car is now sitting at MINI of Towson awaiting diagnosis. In the meantime I have a PW MCSC as a loaner.

Bummer!!!!!!! But at least you got a loaner.... Too bad it's not summer time so you could at least enjoy that Cabrio for a few days...

driving into work it was 50 according to the temp reading on the pseudo OBC. So all the ice is melted and evaporating away.

Sounds like limp mode

Mine did the same thing - a snap, release of pressure, and 2000rpm limit.

Supercharger belt snapped...

At least I know they can't blame any of this on mods. I have done nothing to my car except a roof graphic and a whalen. I haven't even put in the AUX input I bought a month ago.

Oh yeah, Wayne no longer works at Towson. He went off to start his own tuning garage in Aberdeen. Aparently the guys there were a little shocked too.

Yep. I heard that two weeks ago. It really is a loss for them. He was great.

Matt hope you are back on a dry ice free road with your own MINI soon!

Wow, that sucks! Hopefully it'll be a quick fix. could this be that problem some people reported with the bypass valve?

Anyway, enjoy the MCSC, is it manual or auto?

Manual. I have issues driving automatics now. I can still do it, but my mind is off on it's own trying to clutch with something that isn't there.

Diagnosis: Supercharged Bypass Valve.
My car is now back in my hands.
The convertible was nice, but there were too many things that annoyed me (just slightly) about it.
