Ya know, for all of the 'Grumbling' I hear about no events up in Annapolis... >:(

Sorry you can't make it. We did find some great roads that I really think that you'd like. Graba copy of the route sheet and check it out sometime!

Actually, with some of the veteran Annapolis DCMMers not being able to make it, I may have to run this one again in a couple months!

Depending on how many cars show...

.. can we split the group into two groups - (fast MCS and slow MC slushboxes) - I don't want to all bunch up.. :-)

Avoid The Inner Loop!!!

If you haven't heard, the inner loop of the DC Beltway is down to one lane all weekend. As of this afternoon the backup was all the way to MD 5 Branch Ave and estimated to be 2 hours...

Seek alt routes back to DC and VA...

The outer loop should not be affected.

If you want, after the run, we could go through some select parts of the route again, and I can show you just how 'slow' a MC 'slushbox' (which it isn't, it's a CVT tranny, just cuz I don't use a clutch doesn't mean there isn't one!) actually is!!

Thanks Paul and Janelle for putting this together. A fun day even though we popped in half way through the trip. Good job on the roads, very scenic.

Not lost, just an unscheduled side excursion onto a highway! And we were back on track in no time! Plus, no lost cars! We even made it to lunch on time! (Well, close enough, anyway! )

(BTW, you're up in NY now??)

Hey, everyone didn't make the right turn! About half went straight!

Paul: "Oh. Well, make a Uturn and then a right... Wait, no, a left..."

No lost Minis.

Paul: "This is only my 3rd run, and I've never got us lost"

"You got us lost this time"

Paul: "Yeah, well the other two were fine."

"You had bad directions in Virginia"

Paul:

Hehehe... Just bustin your ***** Paul, and sharing some humour for those who didn't make it.

It was a good turnout, good food, good people, and an overall good time, with the delicious climax of a large A&W Float. Mmmmmmmm...

I'll have pics from the run up in my gallery tonight from my digital. The 35mm will obviously take a few days.

My First Run

Was an AMAZING experience. The twisties, the hills, the people, the food, the air, - well that dead skunk didn't smell to good - the tunes, EVERYTHING. It was exhilerating to say the least. Thanks Paul! and for everyone who particiapated in it. Didn't get to introduce myself to a lot of people - I apologize for that! - but all the more reason to go out on the next DCMM event.

Thanks again everyone for such an amazing Sunday.

Thanks all for the kind comments! I had a great time on Sunday, and considering the fact that I think we had over 30+ cars in one group, it went much better than expected!! Keeping that many cars in one line is not an easy feat!

And also a big thanks to Janelle! Even though she ended up sleeping through the run ( ), she played a huge part in setting up the route.

And thanks to all who made it out. Glad you all could make it!

Look in the future for a possible drive-in movie again, this time north of Annapolis; another trip out in the mountains of Virigina (and possibly West Virginia), and we will be doing some events with MINI of Sterling. Watch this forum for details!!

-Paul!

PS - Wagnbat - that turn I made onto Polling House Rd was announced. *You* just missed it!! And I stand by my statement of no lost cars. Temporarily diverted cars, maybe, but not lost!

We had a great time on the run - another good one, as usual. Hats off to Paul for all your efforts.

See you all the next time.

Some pictures are uploaded

I uploaded some pictures from the run into my gallery here. Some did not turn out so bad. including my first standing out of a sunroof picture. I made them smaller, if any one wants high-res ones (7MP jpgs) let me know.

There are more....

Added about 15 pics to my gallery. Most are pics of the Mini train. They should all be at the beginning of the gallery.
