DC to ADD Photo Radar Cameras

Well, hot on the heels of news that red light cameras in Virginia will probably be turned off on July 1, according to the Washington Post DC police are going to be adding stationary photo radar cameras, these are in addition to the existing stationary location on Florida Av SE and the 8 mobile photo radar units that are also in use.

Friday's announcement announced the new cameras on MacArthur Blvd NW, 16th Street NW, Benning Road NE, and Michigan Ave NE. Acording to MPDC warnings will only be issued from these cameras for the next 30 days... Then look out!

I'll say this about MPDC, they're nice enough to post the locations of the cameras on their website! District red light camera locations are here: http://mpdc.dc.gov/info/traffic/red_...ion/index.shtm and the various locations that they setup the mobile photo radar are located here: http://mpdc.dc.gov/info/traffic/phot...ion/index.shtm

OK, that's it -- I'm not driving in DC anymore!!! Caught by one was enough for me -- plus, I can't take the teasing from the hubby.

Hugs,

The only ticket I have ever gotten was from one of these lights by up Washington Hospital Center as I was frantically trying to get to a doctor's appointment on time. I think I was going 40 in a 25.

also those don't work with the new system they are dropping into place. They're switching from a traditional camera to a digital one. The digital ones aren't affected by sprays and plate covers. So far the only county I know that has the digital cameras in place is Howard.

Yaaup. There is one on 15th and Const. aimed at the west bound traffic. I see the flash going off as I wait for the light all the time.
