A friend of Alan's forwarded to him a post from Craig's list, (see below), in which a couple was looking for a MINI and driver to chauffer them on their wedding day. Alan has exchanged a few e-mails with Lauren and as you would expect anyone who would want a MINI in their wedding party has got to be great people!!!

We're not doing fancy limos for our wedding at all, but my fiancé loves Mini Coopers and I thought it would be a fun surprise to have one waiting for us as we leave the reception. I'd prefer white or cream, but other colors will be considered.

The wedding is in late May in DC, and this would probably take less than an hour of your time. I'd want you to show up in your clean car 15 minutes before we're supposed to leave the reception (so 10:45 pm), wearing something nice (blazer and tie, black pants, or equivalent for female - we'd write this into the contract), and then take us straight to our condo in Arlington.

ALTERNATIVELY, if you'd be willing to lend us your car for the day (pick up that AM, returned by noon the Sunday), I'd pay $50 and it wouldn't require any effort on your part.

I'd like to choose someone and draw up a contract for this job by approx March 15. All responses will receive replies by February 15.

uh -- did anyone notice there is no date listed???

Also, while her future hubby may dig the car -- she must have no idea about them --- let's see ---

1. There is no WHITE -- but Pepper White (which isn't either white or cream) (am I being picky here).

2. Has she considered that this is a TWO DOOR car? Is she planning on trying to pile into the back of this car with her big dress? Or even if she changes into a "going away" outfit -- she's still going to be climbing INTO a car. Oh -- and while the back seats are fine for full sized humans some of the time-- perhaps she might want to consider the comfort factor?

I love my car. If I were getting married now, I'd be thrilled to have it part of the fun -- BUT let's be reasonable.

Sorry, my inner cynic is showing again.

ouch, beat that cynic back into the closet......people getting married and you are already tearing them apart.....at least wait the year before the statistics say they will get a divorce anyway.

I think it's sweet that she is trying to surprise the new hubby with a car he likes ..... even if they may know nothing about it at all.

If they could get that Mini limo we saw a while back for it that would be awesome. It wasn't white but still a sweet ride.

I wonder if they wouldn't mind a Astro black MCC...I'd have to ask my sis if she would mind or not though.

 

err, yeah, well, see, I have four dogs at the moment, and well, see, ya, well, you know...well yeah, nah.

 

Two of our members are marrying in June. They have asked the club to provide transportation from the wedding to the reception, which we will do.

We are looking for a few cabrio's out here to transport the wedding party. I am sure it will work fine.

BTW, the Vancouver MINI club has some pics in their site of a recent wedding of theirs...
