New Here

Hi, I just bought a 2002 S from Crown Mini in Richmond...haven't picked it up yet as they're doing some cosmetic work to it to get it ready for me. I should have it Tuesday/Wednesday. Just thought I would pop in and join a club somewhat local to me. Anyone here that can give me the details on how to join DCMM? I'd like to get involved and learn more about my Mini, and just hang out with people that have the same interests. Crown let me take it home for 24 hours which was really great of them to do. It was torture having to give it back to them until mid week, but at least I know it's not that far away. If you're wondering why it has "05 Convertible wheels" in the signature, they said that whoever traded it in had their own wheels they wanted to keep, and they bought the convertible...so basically they swapped the convertible wheels to his trade-in and he put his aftermarket wheels on the new Mini....either way, I love them, and I absolutely love the car.
It had a chrome hood scoop on it which I wasn't too crazy about, so Kelly at Crown told me that they would replace it free of charge by the time I picked it up this week...above and beyond to say the least, and I was very impressed with the level of service I received. Anyways...enough of me running off at the mouth...I look forward to meeting some of you soon hopefully.

Hi Tony,

Congrats on the new toy. If you go to www.DCMetroMINIs.org you can find the events and registration ( http://www.dcmetrominis.org/register/index.html ) pages.

We slow down some in the winter but have lots of drives and dine type of events. A few of us autocross in the local Wash DC/Balto area. I look forward to seeing you on an event.

Enjoy the car.

John

While I'd love to have you as a member, and you're always welcome to come to our events, you might want to look into River City MINIs as they are the group down in the Richmond area. PM minicoopermike here on NAM I'm sure he can give you all the details.

Thanks guys...I did register already at DCMM...and I will email the guy over at River City Mini's as well...I guess it couldn't hurt to be a member of both...I have the free time, and I'm in the DC area a couple of times a month anyways visiting my brother who lives in downtown D.C....so it's not that big of a deal...but thanks for the suggestions on the River City club...I will be in contact with them and get registered there as well. I'll send the dues to the DCMM club this coming week..thanks

T.

No problem, minicoopermike is also a DCMM member.

Like I said we'd love to have you, I just don't want you to join us only because there was nobody closer and then getting upset.

"dual citizenship"

I suspect a lot of MINI people belong to multiple clubs. Erinn and I have attended several Phillymini events, as well as DCMM ones. Geography is no hinderance to attending other regions' events. After all, getting to them just means more quality time in the MINI!
