Midnight Run??
Midnight, Monuments & MINIs
Monumental Midnight MINI Run
A friend of ours did something similar a few years ago. He rented a limo for his wife's 50th birthday. Six of us went out to dinner and then toured the monuments late that night. FDR, Korean, Vietnam, Lincoln. Quite somber and even more impressive late at night when the crowds are gone.

MiniDriver0905 - welcome to NAM!
I have the same question - I've been a DCMM-er for a few years but my wife's medical situation made it impossible for me to make it to a single event until now. I'm ready to go!

The run could run past the Kennedy Center, er under it, and up near Watergate (Georgetown)..umm lotsa Minis in Georgetown at one time (head turner)..incorporate the "Mall" and then past the Capitol and the White House..when is the first full moon in October? Would Rock Creek Parkway be open late..week night (Friday)?
It's definitely still in the works! I'm not much of a night owl, so planning it has been difficult. If I try to do the run during the day I get stuck in traffic, so I need to take a nap one afternoon so I can stay up later!
Rock Creek is definitely open on the weekends, but only to Beach Drive. It's still a good choice and has been repaved recently, so it's in good shape.
That's another issue. I've noticed a lot of the roads are in really terrible condition. It makes the driving much less enjoyable.
Keep the ideas coming. I like the idea of going to Georgetown and I think it would be funny to incorporate Dupont Circle.

MiniDriver - yes, it's still in the works. Whether or not we have two separate runs or just one is still an unknown.
Laura, hopefully the road work around the Watergate & Kennedy Ctr. can be improved when we actually hold a Midnight Run. What do you think of having the run incorporate Dupont Cir., through Georgetown, past the Kennedy Ctr. (on that side of the Potomac, across the river and down the GW Pkwy. on the Virginia side? We could do Spout Run and end up at the Rt.29 Diner, or we could choose a different eating establishment.
We would have to work up a meeting location - any ideas?

The image of 30 Minis driving around and around Dupont Circle cracks me up
I know we're all thinking about avoiding traffic, but perhaps we can think about cruising down M street from Key Bridge to Washington Circle. It's always bumper to bumper on M in Georgetown on weekend evenings, but you can usually see some really nice cars, too.
Just a thought.
Perhaps we could meet at a Pentagon parking lot? or are they restricted?

Definitely 3 rounds for Dupont Circle.
Larry - you are right about the traffic on M St. Wisconsin Ave. is just as bad. Most of the side streets aren't in the greatest of shape (for example - 30th street is horrible).
In regards to a forming up place (FUP) [and if you have any ideas where I got this term from - it's from one of my dad's military manuals], I am looking into a location near Mt. Vernon. (However, anyone else's ideas are more than welcome).

Hi guys - So Fall is officially here which means we should really consider doing a DC evening/night run. Since it gets dark pretty early, we can start around 8 or so after traffic so we can include even the non-night owls (Green Cactus).
Maybe start in at the Kennedy Center (they have a huge above ground lot - we just need to make sure it isn't a huge performance night) and head down Independence? I'm not so good at routes in DC.
Anyway...would love to do a fall ride.
