Scavenger, we are leaving on Thrusday morning and, so far, there are just two MINIs in our MINI-Caravan (literrally mini).

You are more than welcome to join us. We'll be leaving from the Eldersburg around 6:00 am, Rockville (where we are joining up with ccc777-Christine) around 7:00 am (she doesn't know this yet so don't tell her she's going to have to get up that early ).

Anyone else care to join us ??

Phew, I have finally been given the 'okay' and can technically make it down to MOTD without worrying about schedules and the like.

Now the first step is to find some appropriate lodging for 2 people. If anyone still has anything, please let me know. My goal is to depart the Berwyn ****** area on Thursday and come back home Sunday.

Rooms and drive down

I have a room in the lodge with two double beds if you can't find anything else. Is anyone leaving Tuesday or Wednesday? I want to be there Wednesday evening for the dinner.

My room in the INN is available from Wednesday through Sunday checkout. I'm taking over Stacy's cabin with Xiek from Canada.

Well, I can't make it... work duties call. So, I'll have to try again next year. I hope everyone else finds the caravan and lodging that they need and has a great time! I'll be looking forward to lots of good pictures, video, and stories!

Hi,
We're not club members (yet) but we will be leaving Thursday morning and might be interested in joining your group for the drive down.

We're new to the area so I'm assuming that the google route (66 to 81) is the one you'll be taking?

It's been a while since I mapquested it, I'll put it in my NAV unit one of these days. I think those were the routes. I know one thing... when we hit one of those interstates, we stay on it for HOURS and HOURS.

Sure, we'd love to have a third MINI join us !! You can meet up with us where ever it's convenient for you. Just shoot me a PM and let me know where and we'll arrange it.

We are leaving Tuesday morning. Stopping overnight somewhere in Tennessee or North Carolina a couple hours from Fontana. We'll see how far we get. Last year we hooked up with PitStop MINI in Erwin, TN briefly. (They were late getting in due to a breakdown, which made them late getting up the next AM.)

Finish the trip Wednesday, arriving at Fontana by noon. Nice leisurely drive down with frequent breaks.

UPDATE, I called Fontana to find out about my cabin. I don't have a cabin I have a room with two beds, which means that my offer is off the table, sorry.

Aww! I'll be sure to have soome extra fun for you! I managed to find a large cabin for a great price that is only about 30 mins away from everything, so we're definitely making it down.

Thanks, Katie... I don't believe my Garmin suggested I-95 but when I look again, I'll make sure.

Yeah, I think the NAV unit did say, "Get on I-81 and just keep a goin'".

From Eldersburg, the quickest way is out 70, through Harpers Ferry/Charlestown to 81, or straight out 70 to Hagerstown and 81. It seems like it takes 10 hours on 81 just to get through Virginia.

yeah 81 in Virginia is mind numbing, especially driving solo. That's why I listen to a book on CD...
