Video of my GP at the track - Summit Point
Its not always about HP, and I do not own a Miata my daily driver and track car is my MINI and the M5 my toy.
On Summit PT main track there are 2 breaking zones for the Spec racer compared to higher HP cars which on average uses 4 braking zones. The spec Miata's being driven at max will break at turn 1 & 5, I think with your MINI at max on that track you would be breaking at turns 1,3, 4, 5, and 10, the Miata with its momentum will usually endup with better lap times. Those lap times posted are for competition racing not HPDE, there is a very large performance gap that an HPDE driver will need to over come to meet those times.
Jan I would have to send you to M school and a couple of weekend skid pad session before you could handle the beast at Summit.

the MINI will forgive you and help you out, the beast will not.

. We did do a no-brake exercise for one of our runs Sunday - it was my first time doing that, and taught me a lot about planning ahead. For a same-driver comparison, last year in my E46 M3 my best lap was 1:32.20, vs 1:36.33 here in the GP. So, 115 more horsepower equals 4 seconds, for me.

Yep, that will be fun.
the BMW Performance Center has and upcoming M school on May 31st for the Tarheel Chapter/National Chapter BMW club. it's $625 for the day. sounds like a lot but you're driving their cars. It's a lot more learning than your typical track day with an instructor in the right seat.
Also, you can do skidpad training there for 250/hr in the M5. Done it and it's worth it.

+ 1
Done last year the two days Safe Driving school LOVED it - Worth it every penny. We got to drive M5 and M6 as last day/hour treat.
This Xmas Santa got me the two day M School (over $3K) - I am bit (a lot) intimidated ... but it's going to be a great experience.
