I'm in town for the weekend to judge a multimedia contest at the National Geographic building. I came ready to tag some MINIs with SSM cards, so be on the lookout. I already did one at Dulles airport.

Don't think I'll have much time to do sightseeing this trip but if anyone knows where there are some good diecast stores where I can find some MINIs I might be able to squeeze that in.

I have a sister-in-law that works for Natty-Geo doing promos, she's some kind of big cheeze over there in D.C.

If you're shacked up in a hotel near Dulles, MINI of Sterling is just up Rt28, they have diecast at the showroom.

I'm actually at the Beacon Hotel, across from National Geographic. Hopefully I'll have some time to explore. I also want to find some time to see the Vietnam wall.

 

You'll definitely see lots of MINIs near your hotel, but I don't know how many of them are on NAM or DCMM. We live about a mile from there, so if you get bored, PM me! Dave and I will be around on Sunday and Monday.

What times are you free tomorrow? We have a club breakfast in Annapolis in the morning, and a seasonal party in the evening (also near Annapolis). If your judging timetable allows for attendance at either location, you should come on out!

Thanks for all the MINI hospitality. I knew to expect nothing less! We start judging at 9 AM with breaks to eat lunch and dinner, and after dinner we'll go at it again until we decide to quit. So I have a feeling I'll be done too late to join you. But if I can I will! I decided not to rent a car while here so would I be able to get there on the Metro? Can someone PM the info on the location? Thanks!

 

Just found the post with the party info. My MINI relative, MINI-Bee, is going to be there! I aso saw the time is 4 PM. Bummer. I know I won't able to make that. Thanks so much for the invite though. Hope you all have a great time!

 

well darn...we're actually only 20 mins. from the end of the orange line....nad the party starts at 4.....just sayin'

 

Do you think it will continue through the evening and night? It may be 8 or 9 PM before I'm done so if the party will still be going on I'll try to make it.

 

DON'T TAKE THE METRO THIS WEEKEND!!!!! Major delays because they are fixing the pedestrian walkway @ Metro Center and have only 1 side open for Red/Orange/Blue lines the whole weekend.

 

to be honest, I couldn't tell you. Without the Metro, it's a 45 min. drive into DC, and a 45 min. drive back out here. That's without traffic..

bummer...

 

Well, we weren't done judging until 8:30 today and we have more to do tomorrow. Sorry I wasn't able to make it and hope you had a great time.
