Agian I welcome and appreciate both mini's & MINI's... if only everyone shared the same acceptance... Right?

A word of advice for those looking to stay over... Book your room(s) early. Our first choice, the Hampton Inn, was already booked solid a few months ago so we're going to be in the Best Western.

And whatever you do, avoid the Rodeway Inn like the plague. We made the mistake of staying there last year. It was the dirtiest, most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. I'm not someone who expects anything fancy in a hotel, but I do expect it to be clean and not have exposed eletrical wiring hanging out of several places in the room.

at the drama in the mini world (all lowercase on purpose), and some on NAM wonder why there's tension here? It's like an old customer of mine arguing the merits of a MB 5.0L V8 vs. the 'wimpy' little 4.0L BMW V8. I wanted to ask him "Why do you care...you're driving a RAV4 and live in your mom's basement?"

I might try to stay in Thurmont or Gettysburg instead. Or drive there on Sat., it's only a little over 100 miles from my area.

I've got a lot of family in the area so I've got it made. I usually stay with my Uncle and Aunt in Mechanicsburg, he also takes his Fiat 124. And my cousin actually lives in Carlisle so I've stayed there too.

I've heard the PA turnpike can back up at the Carlisle exit on show days so I'd avoid hotels just east and west on the turnpike. I'd stay in Mechanicsburg or Gettysburg and come in the back roads. Coming from the south you can run up 74 which is fine.

I added the Hotel list link on the original message if anyone wants. It DOES get backed up on show days. Plan alternate roads. Leave early.
heres that link again if anyone needs it

thanks for all the info, you guys. problem is, if both Paul and I come then we have to do something about the dog (who will have just spent most of the Dragon in a kennel)....and I'd hate to have to ask Paul to have to stay home..

Going up, walking around for hours and then driving home tired in one day isn't really a good idea, either...at least for me.. I'm old, dammit.

If you can find a dog friendly hotel... I wonder if they're allowed on the fairgrounds? I haven't noticed. Coming from the south on Rt 15 ( up 270 becomes Rt 15) then split off on 74 is not bad traffic wise till you get withing a few blocks. By then your lookin' at the other cars anyway.

I will search for a dog friendly Hotel for the pooch. We have two of our own and I know what you are feeling. I will also look into the Rules of the fairgrounds. I am on first guess going to say I don't think they do but we shall see. I will hopefully have an answer by the new year...

OK HERE IT IS

Just noticed this thread ... I'm there every year (either in the MINI or the MG Midget).

Met some of the Carlisle MINI group last year.

Guess I'd better register.

Will be there for sure on Saturday - not sure about Friday [work always seems to get in the way! ]

Kate - haven't seen you or Paul in years!

Too busy racing .....(see the RSR Motorsports thread in the Racing Forums).

Too bad MINI's by the bay is now scheduled the same weekend. Oh well, I guess DCMM'ers just don't know what they're missing. I'LL be in Carlisle.

Is Saturday the best day to be at Carlisle? Seems to be that way from what I heard.

I plan to be at Carlisle on Sat and MINIs by the Bay on Sun. It's going to be a fun MINI weekend.

Yes, if you're only doing one day and assuming equal weather the whole stretch then Sat is the day to go when there will be the most cars on the field. If you plan to do all the field, all the vendors, and immerse yourself in the kit world then you'll need more than a day!

Mini Tent at Carlisle Import/Kit Show! Deadline Soon!

If we get 25 Mini owners to register as belonging to "Mini Club" (don't use the name of your home club or it won't count), Carlisle will give us a 25x25 tent for our use!

If you have already registered, you need to call or email Toni at Carlisle to change your registration to "Mini Club":

Toni Lehman
Event Specialist
1000 Bryn Mawr Road
Carlisle, PA 17013
ph: 717.243.7855 x121
fax: 717.243.0255
www.carlisleevents.com
toni@carlisleevents.com

I will cover the $160 deposit if there are enough people registered by Monday morning, April 28th.

PS. I am one of many 'Classic' Mini owners who also own a newer Mini. We love them both!

Is it going to be the same tent as for the Carlisle MINI club?

Some of us might have already registered by using Carlisle MINI as the club affiliate.
