[Sat, Nov 17th @ noon] Baltimore County Bridges n Backroads Blitz
I'm in for the Run after MoT and BBQ sounds good after the Run. I just picked-up some Midland radios at "Dicks", on sale and a re-bate, which comes to $70. Has FRS/GMRS, and many other bells and whistles including waterproof in case of flash flood and the top is down.
In the charger now, so hope I made a good choice/purchase!

Hey everybody,
Just got home from Andy Nelson's ( I took a scenic route
).
I wanted to thank those fo you that went on the run today. I know many of you came long distances to attend. I hope that I made it worth your while.
I especially wanted to thank Ed (Hypnohealer) for volunteering to be sweeper and Katie who acted as my shepherd and helped to keep the flock together.

Confessions of a newbie
Katie, thanks for being the good shepherd and keeping us all together. And thanks for letting me know you didn't hear some of my radio posts. Made me re-read the manual and I discovered something a bit embarrassing...
I didn't know that there were two (count them, two) power choices on our channel, and I was using the lower of the two. it's no wonder you had trouble hearing me in the hills and at greater distances. My apologies. Won't happen again
Does anybody have a good suggestion for a headset with a boom mike? I discovered today that my little radio LOVES to FLY
Several times it sailed off the seat during hard braking or cornering, and when I failed to catch it, there was much cursing and groaning as I tried to reach it in the farthest corner of the passenger footwell. Conspiring against my retrieval attempts was the seatbelt tensioner which was reluctant to release its death grip on my fat a$$, especially when I tried to get the radio while I was making a turn, merging into traffic and accelerating while shifting gears. It wasn't pretty or as safe as I like to be
I think a headset would be the best solution.
Of course, a nice co-pilot would be a better choice, but I hear they're MUCH more expensive

What a wonderful day
! The run was fantastic, excellent roads, not too much traffic or intruders.....plenty of smiling public and waves !
Great pace too, though Wensleydale took over a couple of times, showing me that I'm not fast enough
especially that "touch and go" over that hill
The BBQ was a perfect match for this chilly fall day - Hats off (almost literally) to you Cabrio motorers
We did have the moon roof open though !
Here's some ok shots, tough when you're drivin'

Thanks Bill, Ed and Katie !
Cheers,
Mike

+1,
Great run indeed.
Thanks for the pictures.
Nice shots Mike!
I wondered what it looked like from behind.
There were two times when I could see the line: right after the dam and curving around after the Franklinville Rd. steel bridge when I wish I could have somehow taken a shot.
That's a nice shot at the skeet range too. I think I should send them a thank you card for accomodating us for our group pit stop.

I would plan the next time we do the same run to have a photo shot down by the lake, very nice scenery !
Mike
For the record, we be 13 cars.
Before the next run, I'll find some "will work for food" guys, arm them with cheap digital cameras and post them at especially photographically appealing spots. After the run, I'll pick up the cameras and pay the lensmen with BBQ sandwiches; ribs if their work is really good.
I think it might be bedtime.

For the next run, if we can set the exact location for the photo-op, I can arrange someone to wait there to take the group picture.
As long as it is not too far from our location, the photo-op will be on me.
For your record, I love prime rib roasted though.
The card will work, and we can also go visit them sometimes for some shooting session.

Good news,
I just found another road!
This one is another of the narrow, rolling by the stream roads. It also has a steel bridge.
Now I just have to link it up with some other roads and think of an excuse to have y'all back out for another run!

This time I won't miss the BBQ.

You should have join us yesterday, it's in your back yard.
Also, its been a while, you haven't joint any of the runs.

I'm really sorry I couldn't make this run, it sounds like it was a great time! I made the right decision, though, today was a long day of motoring. We made it to Fremont OH. If you ever pass through, the Comfort Inn is pretty nice and there's a self service car wash across the street!
See everyone next month at Sterling!
