BACK FROM MINIS ON A FERRY II
BACK FROM MINIS ON A FERRY II
Here are my thoughts on the MINIS ON A FERRY II. You missed a really fun
time! First off, they did not get the number of cars they had hoped for.
The total was 63 and they were shooting for 125 even though it was sunny
and about 90 degrees. That being said the whole event was very well or-
ganized from the staging at Jamestown to the final run to lunch at the
Virginia Diner 20 miles on the other side of the river(which was close to two
miles wide). I had met up with some folks from the River City club from
Richmond at an exit off I-295 in Richmond and we ran in formation the
approx. 40 miles to Jamestown. At the staging area even the REDBULL MINI
was there passing out cold drinks for everyone. The ride on the ferry was
super, we all fit and there were probably another ten or so civilian cars
aboard. The cool breeze really felt good crossing the river. After lunch
they had a raffle for charity and even with my bad luck I won twice!!
My only suggestion for next year is for them to get the word out early to
as many other MINI clubs as possible to get the car count up.
