Lunch and a mini run after the breakfast?

Anyone, who familiar with Annapolis area, would like to recommend a good place for lunch plus a little fun route to get there.

Any good place across the Bay bridge, maybe?

Probably a good idea to stay out of Annapolis this weekend to avoid the traffic from the Powerboat Show

As a suggestion, there are some scenic coastal roads south of Annapolis that lead to a few restaurants in Chesapeake and North Beach, and I'm sure a little romp on Patuxent River Rd could be included to make things interesting. If anyone's interested, I'd be glad to suggest a route.

Rural Romp after Breakfast at Tate

Just a suggestion... Is anyone interested in lunch at Red, Hot & Blue after breakfast, followed by dashing down some of the best twisty roads that southern Anne Arundel County has to offer?

Starting with a short ride on Route 50 after lunch to Davidsonville, the next hour or so will be fun-filled and scenic. Ending in Rose Haven, at a really nice spot on the Chesapeake with the bay, palm trees and tiki huts as background for our pictures. Lots of rural tree-covered roads, all in good shape (no gravel or dirt).

Feel free to PM me for specifics or with questions/suggestions. Figure about 40 miles from lunch to the photo spot, mostly 3rd gear (after getting off 50, of course). This is my first attempt at this so please point me in the right direction There is a gas station about halfway on the route.

I've been playing on these roads for decades in cars and on bikes, and would love to share them with you.

Great idea, I love it.

Count me in.

Oh, by the way, how far is the Red Hot & Blue from Tate?

Red, Hot & Blue is less than a mile from Tate, diagonally across route 50. Very close, very good barbeque and sides. If that's too close, there are some good places to eat at the other end, but if we leave at 11:45 as you suggested, it would be about 1:30 pm when we got there. A bit further down the coast, in Chesapeake Beach, is the Rod 'n Reel. Also good food, on the water, and very scenic. Majority rules .. you folks choose

check MINIs By the Bay Route (maybe Paul ! has it) you might can integrate it with yours.

If people want to do a short tun BEFORE the breakfast on the way to TATE you can start at Bowie -Annapolis and do a modified 4th of July run. Short , Sweet and Fun.

Thanks for the heads-up, lastrega. Well, shucks! Looks like you've already done some of the roads I wanted to show you. There goes the surprise factor

Still, there are some nice roads down there in South County, and if the weather cooperates, it might be a nice day for a photo on the bay. And, so far, only one person has expressed an interest, so it'll be a small group. I drove it yesterday, and it's good enough to do again. Anyone else?

After 6 yrs of DC-Annapolis week-end commute I experimented a few routes including a few private front/back yards Many times my commute takes up to 2 hours (one way) going thru Upper Marlboro - Bowie etc.

I am not going to be around on the 20th... unless you guys come thru Frederick but I am up for a casual run some other week ends !!

Yeah, I made that trip too (Annapolis to Wheaton) for 6 years, and was glad to get over it. I especially enjoyed driving through the Beltsville Agricultural Park, though. Nice scenery and a welcome break from the DC beltway. Somehow I managed to avoid people's yards, but I'll keep that in mind next time I need to make a quick course change Thanks for the suggestion!

It's too early to tell how many will join.

BTW i would recommend- Thursdays on bay ave, in N beach. or mango's at Herrington harbor-
but if you want some good MD food- hit up stoneys! either in Prince Frederick or a little further down rt 4 to Brooms Island- the atmosphere is worth the drive!

Good driving rds-
Fairhaven rd, Franklin Gibson rd... swamp circle rd... etc

Ed,
I won't be able to make the drive this Sat. The bathtub in my husband's bathroom cracked and we have to work this weekend to replace it.

Sorry

Thanks minifiddler!

I just ran the roads this afternoon to check on a few things, and found the Tastee Freeze (one of my favorites) and I think I found Scoops (Hershey's ice cream?) just across 261 from the Railroad Museum and the Rod 'n Reel.

I also picked up menus from the Rod 'n Reel, Smokey Joe's (right next door) and Mango's at Herrington Harbor in case folks would prefer to eat down there instead of right after breakfast. You sure you can't come with us? We'll all sign your note

Darn I HATE when that happens. Maybe another time. Actually, ANY time would be good for an excuse to dash down these roads for a meal. Let's do it soon

After cleaning the MINI, don't forget to take some pictures and sent in for the contest.

There are quite a few good photo-op locations near/in Annapolis area.
