Wow! Great! See everyone there! Wait, what the heck is it? The link mentions VA Beach area and that's about it?

Where is it?
What is it?
What's GWR and is this the 500th one, or is this one 500 K or miles?

Inquiring minds are mildy curious.

Guiness book World Record attempt. Just like Last time on June 10,2007. We are looking to do a Parade of MINI's to beat the Current Record of 274 in a row.

Wait, I thought the record we set this year was 273. Am I missing something?

I can't wait till next year!! I promise though, I won't be buying another MINI the day before!!

Is the event going to be in the same DIRT parking lot though? It was REALLY hard on our lowered, clean MINIs.

And I REALLY hope no one loses their keys next year!!! (Note to parents..DON'T give your kids your keys!) Just glad she was able to find them!

Got to be at least more than 444 this time.

A new world record (GWR) is 444 MINIs and Minis.
It was set in Thailand.

MINI in Thailand held MINI Phenomenon 2007 and smashed the previous World Record for most Mini/MINIs in a convoy with an incredible 444 MINI/Minis joining together in celebration of their King.

Wow.....I'm both in awe and feeling disappointed at the same time :( Now I see why it's GWR 500 lol.....

We might have to elicit some serious help from other club along the East Coast

I heard that their target was 809.
But due to heavy rain, they got only 444. That still very impressive.

I saw this on the MINISONTHEDRAGON.INFO site: "Guinness World Record attempt for Most MINIs in a Parade" listed as an 2008 Dragon event and thought WTF? Kind of stealing the VA Beach folks thunder.....

To be honest, with the bar now set at 444, I don't think the VAB event could pull it off next year. I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but we barely beat the record last time and it was well below 300... hitting 450 or more is a huge jump from this year's event.

MOTD is a more realistic place to meet that number, because the cars will already be there anyway.

Of course, over in the comments on MotoringFile, some people are talking about trying to beat it at AMVIV too.

Now before anyone jumps on me for suggesting that VAB can't do it again, note that I was one of the people who attended this year's event (in a loaner MINI, no less!), and yes, I'd go again if they made another attempt... so I'm always willing to help, I am just a bit skeptical, that's all!

It's not that difficult for them since there are tons of sponsors and people who's involved: MINI of Thailand, Local goverments, law inforcement, restaurants, musicians, artists, private organizations, etc.

We're sure can do beyond that number, but with lots of hands though.

Ditto.

Perhaps MOTD and VAB should coordinate market this together.

Correction, after further research, the event in Thailand's got the Guiness record under "largest car mosaic".

MINI Thailand proudly presents MINI PHENOMENON 2007, a tribute to His Majesty the King. This event celebrates H.M. the King’s 80th Anniversary by creating a car mosaic of 444 MINI cars forming the words ‘LONG LIVE THE KING’. This feat breaks the Guinness Book world record in the category of car mosaics. This unforgettable experience takes place on September 22, 2007 at the headquarters of the 11th Infantry Regiment of the King’s Guard.

So, I think VA beach still hold the Guiness record.
