Sounds cool, but can you describe what will be going on there a little more? Will there be lessons? or just a chance to drive around a racetrack? How long will it last? And, is it only for Minis?

Its a 1/4 mile run format.

If you want to do some run, it's easy, the fee is $20 (unlimited runs). Check in & line up for car inspection, get number, and get in line for the runs. You can make as many run as you would like to. And you can always take a break anytime you want and join the watch group.

You can drive fast, very safe and the most importance is it's legal.

There will be all kind of cars on the day, from full race hot rod to stock Hyundai.
You might have a chance to beat any of your street rival. (or get spank )

The fun part is that, it is not a race. You can drive it easy or as aggressive as you want. Drive at your own pace. Remember, this is a fun day, not a race. You don't have to push it hard, if you don't want to.

Its also a good chance to test your car for the rwhp (real world horse power ) by calculate from the speed at the trap (finish line) and the total weight of your car. The result will be whp number (horse power @ the wheel) that will be pretty close to dyno number.

And if you decide to watch, you don't need to check in or anything, just pay entrance fee for $10. There are place for you to sit (stadium like) and watch. There is a snack bar, sandwiches, hotdogs, bugers, soda, etc.

You can also bring your girlfriend, kids, wife, husband with you. They can sit with you when you do the run as well.

it's a quarter mile drag strip. anyone can do it for a fee...I think it's $25?

Things to note:

While it sounds fun, you can really damage your transmission...ask Chris

Make sure all your cooling fluids are up to their max...it puts a huge strain on an engine that's not tuned for drag racing.

Um, the food and facilities are bare minimums, with the bathrooms being downright scary. I've wanted to hold an official club event there since Paul and I "discovered" Capitol Raceway 4 years ago...but the place is a dump, frankly.

By the way, you can sign up as a spectator first and ride with some of the ones who will do the run to get some idea. Then if you decide to have fun, you can always exchange the pass and do the runs.

The gate will be opened at 4.30pm, they will start the first run at 5pm, you can make runs all the way to 10pm.

For some, this will be the first time, you can always sit with the others to get the feel and to check out the procedure first. Don't make this scare you away. It's as easy as driving from stop light.

It's free entry, if you're a spectator

Fee is $20 to do runs (unlimited), $10 for spectator. Spectators can change the pass to do the runs later by paying extra $10.

You're right about the facility, it is definitely not on par with any country club.
Anyhow, it's one of the closest tracks around and easy to access.

Like I have mentioned, drive at your own pace. You don't have to push it hard (burnout, dump clutch, slip clutch, etc), if you don't want to. Without doing those mentioned, everything should be fine. It just like you driving aggressively, but legally.
This is not a competition, we're not in the "Pink all out" show either , it's just a fun ride.

Btw, my Mini's transmission was fine. I did smell burning clutch on the day, after I was trying some fancy launching methods and burn-outs , but nothing's been damaged.

oh good...I thought you cooked your clutch.

If I wasn't leaving the next morning for Rehoboth, I'd join you to watch. Unfortunately, my sister who's definitely not into cars will be here, so I can't be rude and just leaver her to go to the track....

For the spectators, after get through the entrance, the parking lot will be on the left side of the strip. We will park by the far side of the lot (toward the finish line). Easier to get parking around there. For the one who will not meet us earlier at McDonald, you can meet us there.

For the runners, the car inspection station is on the right side of the strip. Try to register and get your car inspect first, then you come to meet the rest of us at the other side or do some runs.

Awesome.
Hopefully, I would have a chance to see R56 in action.

Btw, I'll see if I could make mid 14's with my street setup.

Looks like we're going to have nice weather on the day. Partly sunny @ 89 F. Should be a fun night-out.

Don't worry, I'm not going to abuse her. I'll make only couple of runs, to try different shifting point and check trap speed to compare to the last time before the camshaft installed.

She will be ready for some fun on Saturday.
Maxi is at her prime now.

I don't think anything scheduled for this Sat. You can always check the event calendar when in doubt.
Here's the link:

Actually, the real link is:

www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/calendar.php?c=5

The main issue with the link that Katie posted is that it's date-specific. If you click on it a month or two from now, it will always go directly to August 2007, instead of the current month at the time. The link I just gave you is "dynamic", and will always take you to the current month.
