MINI purchasing tips

I'm going to Towson to look at some of their in stock Mini Cooper S models. Haven't decided on an '06 or '07. It will be an automatic since that's mandated by the rest of the family. Any info on the difference between the two years would be appreciated.
What is the consensus regarding pricing for buying cars on the lot? Do MINI dealerships stick to MSRP even on cars that are sitting around on the lot? Any negotiating room?

Thanks

If you're going to Towson, make sure you talk to Tony. He's very knowledgeable. You'll need to test drive both years. The '06 MCS=Supercharger while the '07 MCS=Turbo. Big difference. You'll be able to negotiate on the '06 models but not on the '07 models. Pretty much MSRP on them. Good luck.

Ok thanks for the tip. Anyone pay less than MSRP for an '07 MCS?

LOL not likely... no reason for dealers to do that when they are selling every one. You might get them to throw in a few accessories or something.

Keep in mind that MINIs tend to keep their resale value higher (percentage-wise) than virtually all other new cars. That helps when you have to swallow the MSRP pill.

I personally don't mind the MSRP thing, because not having to worry about haggling over it (because it's the same deal for everyone) does make the purchase experience much more pleasant.

Thanks everyone for the tip. A few MINI dealerships I talked with say they MAY give a couple hundred off if you buy one off the lot rather than order one. Don't think that would be enough to sway someone from ordering one...

Anyone know what the lead time is for ordering?
I talked with Scott at Tate earlier, very nice on the phone.

Thanks!

Scott's who you want to deal with if you go to Tate. he's been in their sales dept. since they opened 5 years ago. He is the most knowledgable of their reps.

I concur, as noted in your other thread.

I ordered mine 6/14, it will be delivered via truck to Tate tomorrow. I was told 4-6 weeks when I ordered it.
