Bat Briefs
Hey all.
Baby Nara is still not here yet. She's 5 days overdue... But Betty has a c-section scheduled for tomorrow AM.
Hope everyone is having tons of fun at the Dragon. And for all of you whom didn't get to go, don't feel bad because I wanted to go too! Instead of spending money flying myself to MOTD, I had to spend that same money to fly in family to help with the new baby.
Everything else is good, hope you all are well too.

Thought of you a lot at MOTD 6 - we had great success in our cabin and you would've enjoyed the socializing at Club QoC! Finally nice to drive my own car with a real suspension and tires at MOTD!
Happy Cinco de Mayo all… Especially special for us, because today we have a new addition to the family.

Baby Naralieu Isabella was born at 8:17am Guam Time, 8lbs 14oz, and 21″ long. She and her mother are recovering at Guam Naval Hospital and should be home by the end of the week.
P.S. She's also the reason I missed MOTD this year.

Everything here is going fantastic. As I've said 100 times, the only thing I really miss is DCMM. There's more and more Mini's here, but it's because of the cost of gas. And the dealer here has like a 5k markup, so only the 'wealthy' can really afford them, except for the military people who bring theirs from off island.
Anyhow. My boat is out without me, which is nice. The purpose of the boat is to repair submarines, but there is a crew that needs to man the boat and be consistently trained on how to operate it (due to military turnover), fight fires, and attain qualifications. Since I'm on the repair side, I don't have to go when they do, unless there's a special reason.
I was supposed to go originally, and B didn't want to sit here by herself while I was gone, so she went back to California to hang with her family while I'm gone. Turns out I didn't go, so I suppose she went for nothing? She had a rough time travelling, because her and both kids all had sinus infections. That was weeks ago, and she's good now, but dreading her return home on the 22nd.
The family is very well though. We went to the beach for Labor Day, finding shells and just enjoying time out. B is well, the kids are growing like weeds and everything is just generally good.

I have also been scuba diving like crazy. I got my basic certification in july, advanced in august, and night diver and national geographic diver certifications in septermber. Really enjoying it... In fact, I'm going on a boat dive off the northern end of the island in about 3 hours. So things are better than well with me, even though I got passed up for promotion this year. I'm "early" in that regard anyhow, so no big deal... There are plenty of guys that retire at my rank (e6) and I've got plenty of opportunities and solid evals to help me move up before I retire in 8 years.
That's that, the big update. Hope everyone in DCMM is doing as well if not better! Going to part with some dive shots:

Me, obviously.

A pincushion starfish.

A reef octopus. Was sand colored hiding behind the sea anemone... But once it saw me see him, he turned black (angry) and sped off.

A bigfin reef squid (not that big, only about 10" overall) off a pier on the Navy Base at night.

And it all fits in my Scubapro dive bag. I kid you not.
Scubapro has lifetime warranty on all their products, good products, and good prices. The only thing I use that isn't Scubapro is the stuff Scubapro doesn't make... Camera, clothes, etc...
