DC photo ticket

got nailed with one, 71 in a 45. $200

You think its worth going into court and saying im sorry or should I just pay the fine? I live in maryland and the ticket says no points will be assested which is good.

Ouch! Can you prove you weren't driving? Not sure going to court would help you unless you could demonstrate that the car next to you was actually going faster. Photo tickets suck, radar sucks, Police should be out chasing drug dealers and muggers and leave the driving to us!

I got a ticket ($75) in DC last year, too, and I live in MD. It wasn't even my fault-I went through a red light due to a bus veering into my lane, so I sped up and didn't even see that it was a traffic intersection, let alone a red light. Plus, the bus was blocking the light! It didn't help that the lights don't hang above the road like in MD (at least at that intersection). I wrote to the DC ticketing department and they "reviewed" it and STILL made me pay the ticket for going through a red . They don't give a crap about the reason, they just want the money!! But I wish you best of luck with your situation.

I would save yourself the hassle of going to court and just pay it. I've heard of very FEW people that have had any luck getting out of photo tickets..

If you can't prove you were not driving the car, you'll end up paying. No point wasting a day in court.

We all know paying the ticket means you admit guilt and then your insurance will take advantage of you.

Pay it.

Live and learn

But one question. Did they show you a photo of the front, back, or other angles of your MINI?

Just wondering since I live in a "no front plate" state and might someday drive through your great state.

here's another one for ya...Paul got a big ticket in DC...it started out as a parking ticket, the cop noticed he had no front plate and an MD plate in the back. MD requires front plates. The ticket...grew.
Jurisdictionally (is that a word?), is it valid?
He paid it anyhow.

Not on photo tickets. Since they can't prove the driver of the car, they can't assess points to anyones record.

Ha! I was parked a block of of 8th street SE, in a residential neighborhood with free two hour parking. When I returned from my lunch I had recieved a ticket for no front plate!!! You gotta watch those DC parking enforcement folks. I let my co-workers drive us to lunch these days

Ditto. Michael got a parking ticket in DC and was also cited for no front plate. He was able to speak to the officer (who would not take back the ticket) but who did say if the plate was displayed in the front window that was as good as having a front plate in DC. So now, we keep his front plate in the boot and when we park on the street in DC we put it in the windscreen. Have gotten another parking ticket since, but were not cited for the plate.

Great idea. I will do that however it will mean taking my front plate off of my display shelves in my office. Next to it is the other ticket I got a couple of years ago from a nice Arlington County officer. He had nothing better to do that morning than pull me over for no front plate. I can't imagine how many people drove by reading the paper and clipping their nails while he wrote me that one

I am the only car in the pic. Also it says if I want to say that I wasn't the person driving I have to tell them who was and where they live and have them sign it in front of a notory. So basicly you can't do that unless you know someone who wants to pay the $200 for you

The photo tickets allow the cops the time to get the drug dealers and muggers, so they don't have to chase the red light violators. Duh.

lol OR you could just put on the front plate and get over it, and avoid all the hassles. no sense im making your life harder right!!!

think about it, a no drill plate holder costs 50 bucks give or take. Its not THAT BAD.

if you have GPS - you can upload a POI that contains all the photo radar sites in DC - but word to the wise - slow down in DC, VA an MD - much more enforcement lately.
