Video from 2006 Solo Nationals

Here is a side-by-side of Craig and I's fast runs on the East course Tuesday morning.

http://gwl.rmsolo.org/misc/Craig(L),%20Graeme(R)%20East%20Course%20HPT%202006-1.wmv

I'll eventually get around to doing a Wednesday side-by-side, I promise!

Great driving Graeme and Craig. Thanks for posting it, I was wondering if anyone was going to post video of what the course was like. Look forward to seeing the other.

I use Adobe Premier. I assign each run to a separate track then synchronise them on the timeline. Now I select the clip I want and choose "Clip -> Motion". Once in the "motion" window, I can set a scaling factor and a position. I use 50% scaling and move the clip to the top left corner. Once that's done, I repeat with the other track and move it to the top right corner.

Simple huh?

The other thing I do (that you may have noticed) is that I'll keep the sound from the left video on the left channel of the audio and the sound from the right video on the right channel. If you wear headphones, you can compare throttle modulation and application.

It was interesting watch Craig jump out to a good lead, Greame catch and pass him, then Craig take the lead back again.

This video is awesome, and, it really confirmed my thoughts about where I was fast and one part that I felt I had a bit of a bobble. :-) Now I cannot wait until next season!

That is a great way to view your runs. Find out where you're strengths and weakness is on a course. You can usually guess where you can gain some time, but that format would be awesome to review between runs.

Cool video. I assume that was in Topeka? A member of our Manitoba (Canada) club raced in FStock with his Mustang and came in 2nd at the event. LOTS of members in our club are thinking of going next year. I co-drive my MINI and we just can't seem to "figure it out". We played with tire pressures all year and still can't seem to get the right amount of bite in the front and swivel from the rear to capture FTD here.:impatient

We run DSP here.
Can you tell me what set up you have?

Craig or Graeme,
You don't happen to have video from the West course do you?

Matt

I don't think we had the camera rolling on day 2, I think our reasoning was that it was day 2 and any data at that point would be useless after the event. Anyway, without the video, I do know that I took WAY too wide of a line on my 1st 2 runs on the showcase sweeper, on the last run, I tightened up my line on the first 2/3 rds of the sweeper, then bumped it out a bit at the end before the left hand turn to carry the speed up the hill. Thats not as good as video though is it?

I think I have 5 of the 6 runs. We were a little distracted on day2. Can't think why...

Ahh, I'm probably thinking of the Data logging, not the video.

If you do happen to stumble onto them, that will be interesting to see if my feeling that I lost time in that sweeper were correct. I also felt that I really pushed the homecoming slalom on my last run as well, but, I did hit a cone so it didn't count.

Haha!! I bet you were a bit distracted . Again, congrats you two. After seeing how well both of you did, it's made the trip to Topeka a must next year for me.

Here is the video from the West course. Turns out I did get all 6 runs - phew!

Both our fastest clean runs were our 2nd runs. Craig - 52.311, Me - 52.285. Again, amazingly close.
Craig (L) vs Graeme (R) West course HPT 2006

Since Craig ran with #199, he had the luxury of knowing the Championship was sewn up when he got to the line for his last run. Here is his 3rd run vs his 2nd run where he let it all hang out.
Craig - 3rd run (L) vs 2nd run (R) West Course HPT 2006

Craig, if I'm interpreting this video correctly, you did not lose much time in the sweeper like you thought. You were however very tentative through both slaloms on your 2nd run but nailed them both on your 3rd. Pity about that pesky cone!!!

Hey Graeme,

Is it just me...or does the second link above not work? The one with you and Craig does...but the one comparing Craig's 2nd & 3rd runs...does not.

BTW, thanks for sharing those videos...its very cool.

It is very cool to see the different lines you each take, and where each is faster. Now if you could combine the best of each, you would be even better.

Hmmm, both links work for me. Anyone else having trouble with the second link?
