Does anyone know if I can put all terrain tires on my stock r60 with 17 inch rims without doing any modifications. im looking for a more aggressive tire other than the run flats I have on now.

It is literally what this thread is about. In the first post.

Here's the updated look after powder coat. I'm pretty damn pleased with the results.
Sorry for commenting on an old thread, but I’m this close to ordering the same tires but I have one question. How did you decide these were as beefy as you could go? Is there anything bigger and better for the snow?
Great post!! I love this look intend on doing the same tire size and stock rim, however would like to go with Toyo AT3. I see the tire actual dimmensions are the same O.D. (28"), but the width is 8.7". That's 0.2" wider than the Falken Wildpeak AT3. What I'm thinking is the difference of 0.2" would be split between either side of the rim. Is there enough space on the inside to not cause rubbing or issues?

Toyo AT3 215x65R17 fit nicely and ride smoother on bumpy roads that previous non‐runflat tires. Thanks to this thread for the great advice!
Fully stock and no wheel spacers. No fenders required removal. Mounted right up.
Hi Hanson,
Why did you decide to go with 215 for your Toyo's instead of 265 like on the Falken's earlier on the thread? Was that a typo?
Wouldn't the 265 Falken's be beefier? Why would you want smaller tires? I'm trying to decide between the Falkens and the Toyo's now but confused on the size discrepancy.
Let me know!
Hi J.Hec,
If you don't mind my 2 cents this is what I've learned.
A 265/65R17 is a 30.5" tall tire, from everything i've read and seen that's too big for the Countryman, especially without a lift.
The 215/65R17 is 28" tall... However, you might be able to squeeze in a 225/65R17 at 28.5" tall. I'm only talking about the Toyo Open Country A/T 3 here, other tires could vary.
The bottom of the rear wheel well is only 30", at least that's what it is on my 13-CM base model, but maybe it's bigger on the S and All4 models.
STORY TIME! I went into get the 215/65R17 Toyos the other day but had issues with the tire shop. I set up an appointment with everything I wanted online (American Tire Depot) The next day I got to their shop and they tried to pull a bait and switch on me. They said they couldn't get me those tires for the advertised price. They advertised buy 3 get 1 free but wouldn't honor that deal, there was no note of any exclusions on their website either. I told the guy that was false advertising and illegal, the guy just shrugged it off. I gave the guy a chance to make it right and I asked him to get me other discounts to get the final price to what I had set up online but it still came out $100 higher than the original price.

Jeez that sounds like a hassle, did you end up getting them? I’m now debating on trying 225/65/17, anyone know if it would work?

Not yet... I decided to beef up the suspension first. I ordered a set of ISC coilovers a couple of weeks ago so i'm going to put those on when they get here (still waiting for them to arrive).
Sorry to dredge this one up from the dead. New to the group and am about to buy new tires for my daughters 2013 Countryman S All4. She will be moving to Oregon and like the idea of the 215/65-17 Falcon Wildpeaks AT3. or Toyos.
What is everyone experience to date with these ? How loud are they and have you experienced any undue wear and tear? Would you do again? Any long term use feedback would be welcomed.
Yes, I would define do.it again. The Falken 215/65/17 all terrains look and ride great. Don't hesitate to put them on your daughter's all 4 countryman. You won't be disappointed.
The tires have been awesome on my wifes car. I would do this again in a heartbeat. There has been no real extra wear and tear on the car that I have noticed. There was a drop in MPG but that was expected.
My wife is very happy with the performance of the tires in the snow. Plus the car just looks bad ***
I went with 215/60 falkens. The only issue I have is on certain concrete highways I’m experiencing tramlining. On certain concrete that has small groves that go with the flow of traffic the car gets a bit swirly. I can do 70-80 on asphalt but then I have slow down in the 60s on these type of groves roads. The back of the car feels real loose as it goes on the grooves. Will an alignment fix this? Curious if anyone else experienced this?
After reading this thread and thinking about it for many month I finally did it. I am very please with the results.
I went with The Falken 215/60/17. I got them on tire rack but also Walmart have them. they feel great, so much better than the previous run-flat tires.
