New to this forum, so please forgive me if this topic has been covered. (I did do a search)

My basic question is, can I use the space saver spare tire/wheel sold by Out Motoring on my Countryman which has the OEM 18" wheel/tire combo?

It appears the Out Motoring spare is 17", but shouldn't the overall dimeter of the 17" and 18" inch wheel/tire combos be the same? And, therefore shouldn't you be able to use the space save spare for either size OEM wheels?

My idea is to bolt the space saver to a roof basket, and switch out the run flat tires with non-runflats.

the od of the 205/55R17 tire is the same as the od of the 225/45R18 tire

if you look at tire specs on tirerack.com, all brands in these sizes are between 25.9" and 26.1" od
