Seen the "MINI ALL4 Racing and MINI Countryman X-raid Service Vehicle"?
Howdy,
I thought some of my fellow MINI Motorsports and WRC enthusiasts might enjoy a peek at the "MINI ALL4 Racing and MINI Countryman X-raid Service Vehicles".
The press release and available pictures are at:
The main point of featuring these vehicles seems to be to draw attention to the available (4?) MINI accessories utilized on these vehicles: "off-road design ... silver-coloured add-on parts for the front and rear apron and side skirts". The X-raid service vehicles pictured are equipped with 15-inch ATS wheels and 205/75 R15 Goodyear tires.
While I am sincerely interested in the add-on parts and intend to look into them for my 2012 Cooper S Countryman All4, the overall rally look of those R60s is a theme I'm particularly interested in. I've started by shopping smaller-diameter wheels so that I can stuff more rubber (larger sidewall) with more aggressive mud/snow or all-terrain tread in the fenders. I take it that's the right track because the X-raid vehicles went with 15s as well.
I checked in at a 4WheelParts shop to pick out identical or similar wheels and identical tires as those on the X-raid Countryman. They looked and the ATS wheels are intended for "motorsport use only" and must be ordered in batches of EIGHT minimum! Apparently no other aftermarket off-road/rugged wheels are made to fit the Countryman at this time either, e.g. I checked on popular rugged-design wheels like the "Pro Comp Rock Crawler Wheels Series 52" and they were off on hub fitment.
It looks like the pictures in the press release are a cruel tease
, but they're sure fun to look at.
