Alternative size 17" tires

Hi everyone, new the form and the Mini :-)

I'm about to order a new CMS FWD, and I want to replace the tires on day one. The car will be leased, but I plan on having to replace a set of tired before month 38 anyway, so why not start on a set of good ones. Plus, not a big fan of run flats on passenger cars.

Anyway, I plan to tow with this car, and just use it for commuting, basic driving. Maybe a track day or two (how can you not?!?) but I have another vehicle for playtime on the track. In all honesty, my main concern is comfort and traction. I know the FWD cards have a good amount of torque steer, so hopefully some better tires will help.

Not getting the sports suspension, just standard.

Anyway, the standard size of 17-205-55 leaves zero choices at Tirerack. Wondering if anyone switched to a 17-215-50 or maybe even a 60 series tire? The 215 series has a TON more choices and better prices than the factory size.

Advice welcomed.

Hi, welcome to the forum! I run 215-55/17's in the winter. Others run 225-50/17's which is a slightly closer size match. You will see a lot of other choices in those sizes. Good luck
