Brake Pads

Anyone change em yet? My warning light went off today and the dealer is 100 miles away. I figure I can do them myself.

Your brakes are part of the free maintenance program if you are still within that period.

Duh. Thanks for the wake up call. I guess I'll just wait and have them do it when the recall letter comes to fix the spontaneous combustion issue with the water pump.

So how many miles until they are due? It does give a countdown. They won't do them unless you are 2,000 miles or sooner. Give them a call and see if you can get it all done at the same time. I had the recall fixed already without the letter.

GeoffreyM, My countryman was in for a I phone cradle issue which turned out to be faulty armrest wiring…so they overnighted a new one. While there they performed the W/P recall. I mentioned I hadn't received a letter yet, they said any vehicle that comes in for service and they confirm is part of the recall, they'll do it then instead of having you come back. They did front pads and sensors, rotors were still fine. They also did a upgrade to software in regards to the hesitation/stumble I would get on cold mornings. That's been corrected as well. Runs pretty sweet at the moment. So if you go in for the brake warning issue…long as your dealer has parts for the recall, they should do it.

If you can wait get a bit closer, I went in at 1900 miles and was pretty bummed the pads were only changed, the rotors were still in spec even though they had a decent lip on them. :/
