So I just got my new Mini Countryman S. They tried to sell me this in the 1-1.2k range. I said no and upon reading this thread it seems like I made the right choice. I was thinking to myself at the dealership at the time, couldn't I purposefully run over some nails when I feel my treads tires are getting old and they'll replace them for free?
Say I do get a flat, do I replace that tire with a non-runflat or pay the extra for the runflat? And then in the long run, when I eventually have to replace all four because they get old, do I switch to regular tires?
What's everyone's opinion on/experience with the extended warranty for the car itself? I never buy extended warranties for anything, and have never regretted it, but my wife is convinced that it's a good idea.

I was also wondering about this too. Whether to get the extended warranty and/or extended service.
IMO it depends on how many miles a year you plan on putting on the car. Knowing I would be out of the factory warranty & maintance before the first year was up.
I purchased tire & wheel extended warranty & maintance blemish and key.
For me it's the best deal and the tire and wheel have already just about paid for itself.
I negotiated I got the best deals I could get on all of the above.

Is it for sure that you can back out of the plan within 30 days?
I got up-saled by the finance department into buying the plan $1189, and I've been having buyer's remorse ever since... I think I still have a few days before my 30 days, and I just came across with thread.
I would love to refund the plan, how do I need to go about this?
I have replaced two tires in two years, one due to a flat, one due to a blowout. Nobody has run flats through. With the blow out, it takes three days to get a replacement, so I had to rent a car because we were on vacation when this happened. I am think of purchasing the mini fine tire carrier for longer trips.
Just go with NON-RF tires... Swapped mine out at 4k miles and never looked back. Had one flat on the NON-RF and it cost me $20 to fix, rebalance and mount... 8 minutes later I was on my way. Had they been RF tires, they would have to order one, won't fix them, and the cost would had been almost $400.
I also got a real rim (same as is on the car) and same spare tire, as is on the car. Lashed in the trunk, and a slime kit with compressor (compressor allowed me to get NON-RF to garage on way home from work to get the 8 minute fix....
RF tires are a scam. Sure you go flat you can still get to a garage but for $400????
I'm good to go with my configuration now and the car rides and handles way nicer.....
I think depends on where u live, I live in Los Angeles area, where pot holes are everywhere.
Here is our experience, My wife's Mercedes have had 2 rims replacement and 3 tires replacement during the past 4 years of ownership of her car. Thank god that we purchased the wheels and tire insurance. So all of those costs were covered.
My clubman hit a pothole last month, n one of the tire had a bump on the sidewall, n I don't have wheel n tire insurance for the clubman, so this time I got to pay out of pocket. ;(
So I think it is a great idea buy this insurance, I will be taking delivery of my jcw cm in aug, n I am going to get this insurance.
Glad I found this site and all the info. Bought a 2013 clubman S this week and of course all the mind was a blur by the time I got to finance. I'm not new to buying cars, I'm like 50 but the finance guy sold me the tire n wheel 5 yr deal for $1590 . Well now that I found others paid $900 for same plan I sent a email to finance dept, told him I was going to canx and was not willing to pay over $900 .
Guess what he reduced it to $900 WAY TOO FAST. So he was admitting by that action that he over charged me $690 . That is BS.
Now at $900 I'm more on the wire about keeping. But my clubman has the 16" 55 series so I'm pretty sure my chances of killing a rim are less than say the 45 series , BUT we have alot of contruction here. The wife killed a BFG on her miata this year ( side buldge ) so I'm not sure.
We got the wheel and tire insurance. The car is less than a year old and we've already had three tires replaced on it; it's paid for itself. Hawaii road's SUCK.
Roads horrible in NYC too. Today's bubble will make second tire in 18 months.
I know that a lot of people bash the tire and wheel program but for us it's worked out. Very glad we went with it.

Cant argue with that. I was on Oahu and Maui in late Oct/early Nov and was surprised at how bad some of those roads were given they dont have to deal with road salt...
Have owned my clubby for a month, gone less than 1500 miles, and had a Dunlop run-flat replaced today due to a pothole encounter. So, $250 back, $500 more to go till break-even within the next four years and 11 months....
@Noreen99 would you mind telling me how much you paid for how many years of the tire and wheel warranty? I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia and the dealer is asking $1,400 for four year, $1,600 for five year, and $1,700 for six year. Everyone I kniw/met wjo has a Mini if any kind said I HAVE to get the t&w coverage bc it's DEF worth it. I didn't know if the prices were negotiable.
